ORIGINAL: juliaoceania The World of Time series, otherwise known as WoT Already being done...though I have no idea how they're gonna reduce each 1,000 page book into one movie http://www.geekology.co.za/blog/2010/01/first-wheel-of-time-movie-possibly-released-in-2011/ I am kind of disappointed they are making these books into movies. The reason why I am somewhat disappointed is that they were really meant for a television series, like Battle Star Galactica. The last I had read on this subject a few months ago was that while the rights had been purchased there were no plans to do anything with them. I can understand why they decided to make them into movies because there is more likelihood they will make money on them, I mean look what happened to Legend of the Seeker.... it didn't get a chance to explore Goodkind's vision and his plot lines for Kaylan and Richard. Not only are all of these books very long, but they do not end in ways that make good standalone movies. If there is one criticism I have of Jordan, it is that there were never any tying up of threads within the stories, he would just open more of them by introducing new characters, yet never resolving their conflicts. I think that this annoyed many readers of the series. My ex read 5 books, and he quit because he said "It has become obvious to me this series is not being designed to ever end".....on the one hand, that is a testament to Jordan's commitment to the characters and the world he created, obut I can understand that those seeking resolution were deeply disappointed. I will admit I was slightly angry with him when he up and got terminally ill before writing the final installment and wrapping up every loose thread, and there were so many loose threads that it was as if his replacement author ( Brandon Sanderson) had to write three books to attempt to mend the tapestry of the storyline. I was entertained by the "Legend of the Seeker" show, but also disappointed. It seems like everything that comes out of New Zealand has to have at least 1/4 of each eposide devoted to choreography posing as "fighting". Zena and Hercules started that shit (well, actually, Sam Raimi, the producer, did). BTW, the chick who was Lucy's stunt double in Zena also doubled for Uma in the "Kill Bill" flicks. I'd like to see David and Leigh Eddings' "Belgariad" quintology made into a series. There was some truly funny materiel in those books. The scene where Garion, attempting to move a boulder by magic, instead succeeds in pushing himself armpit deep into the ground because he failed to magically "brace" himself had me in stitches.
