Here are a few of my favorite bad songs (the ones I crank to max volume when there's no one around, but the minute I pull up in traffic at a red light I have to turn way down):

"Double Vision" (I forget who sings it)
"Abracadabra" by Steve Miller Band
"Bringin' On the Heartache" by Def Leppard
"Poison" by Alice Cooper
"Feed My Frankenstein" by Alice Cooper

Edited to add:  There's an 80's glam metal side to me that I don't own up to easily.

William Hung and "She bang"--OMG and he made a fortune--and they think WE are perverted sickos.

*Twitches* Is it just me... or does anyone else want to do painful, nonconsensual things to each of the back-up dancers? My god that WAS awful!

And was the second one a video of the Asian version of American Idol? Because she looked like one of those insane hopefuls that actually think they don't sound like a stuck cow. Too bad they don't have Simon... The girls that surrounded her at the end of the video were too polite to do anything but clap.

I pity their ears. That's cruel and unusual punishment.

Gauge -> RE: The First Official CollarMe(tm) Really Bad Music Thread (5/11/2006 12:47:29 PM)

Stairway To Heaven - Led Zepplin may be the most overrated band ever

Anything by The Doors - Jim Morrison was so far overrated as a singer and as a writer

Eric Clapton's acoustic version of Lela

I am sure I will have more...

NakedOnMyChain -> RE: The First Official CollarMe(tm) Really Bad Music Thread (5/11/2006 12:54:57 PM)

I was going to start booing and hissing, but I'm pretty sure you're joking.

Funny story about Lela, though.  My niece was born St. Patty's day before last.  Her name's Lela.  A bunch of my friends and I went to the bar that night, about five hours after she was born, and I put twenty dollars in the jukebox and had it play "Lela" over and over again (not consecutively, just every fifth song or so).  I think we ran away most of the bar.  The drunker we got, the louder we sang.  Poor girl never stands a chance in this Irish drinking family.

You had better begin the heckling because I am dead serious.

Ace of Base - The Sign

Mariah Carey-anything.... she's an attractive woman, but I hate any singer who thinks running their vocal cords up and down the octave range sounds good.

Perhaps the most hated song of all time is The Macarena. It actually made me feel shame for the human race.

I know, and the best part is you think after watching the first few seconds that it can't possibly get any worse.  But it does.

Ice Ice Baby - By none other than our favorite rapper, Vanilla Ice, who's now the ice cold punk rock star...lol.

U Can't Touch This - The broke rapper, MC Hammer.  I'm sure that's what they told him about his bank accounts.

My Maria - Brooks & Dunn...I always say "My Diarrheeeeeaaaa". LOL!

Select songs by David Allan Coe....

Moving right along...LOL.

Anything by ABBA is a bad song

Hello, Everyone! This is my first post to collarme.com, but I couldn't resist the draw of a conversation about bad music. Here are my current bottom three worst songs, in no particular order, with explanations for why I change the station whenever I hear them. :-)

  • Hollaback Girl, Gwen Stefani - With the cheerleader cadence, it came off like an attempt at riding the coat tails of Destiny's Child's Lose my Breath, which used similar high school band cadences and achieved a high level of success immediately before Stefani's song became popular.
  • Milkshake, Kelis - How did this become a hit?
  • Ridin' Dirty, Underground Kingz - The artists brag about crimes committed, then accuse the police of racial profiling for trying to catch them at it.

Great meeting you all. :-)

Go back to the 70's....

"Billy, Don't Be A Hero" by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods

"Daddy, Don't You Walk So Fast" by Wayne Newton

"Watching Scotty Grow" by Bobby Goldsboro

"Honey" (See the tree, how big it's grown....) possibly also by Bobby Goldsboro, but I'm not positive on that one

And that one by Clint Holmes that goes "My name is Michael, I've got a nickel, I've got a nickel shiny and new...."

"Sweet and Innocent" by Donny Osmond

Embarrassingly, I had every one of those on a 45.  My musical taste has changed considerably since then.
