One word - Libya.

What non sequitur is this?  Explain how we are exporting american troops and force on the people of Libya, killing all and sundry, or supporting Khaddaffi, exactly how are we intervening there and affecting the joe bin six pack in ways uninvited?

Here is the speech text...not as self righteous as you claim...

Good evening. Tonight, I can report to the American people and to the world that the United States has conducted an operation that killed Osama bin Laden, the leader of Al-Qaeda, and a terrorist who's responsible for the murder of thousands of innocent men, women, and children. "It was nearly 10 years ago that a bright September day was darkened by the worst attack on the American people in our history. The images of 9/11 are seared into our national memory - hijacked planes cutting through a cloudless September sky; the Twin Towers collapsing to the ground; black smoke billowing up from the Pentagon; the wreckage of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania, where the actions of heroic citizens saved even more heartbreak and destruction.

"And yet we know that the worst images are those that were unseen to the world. The empty seat at the dinner table. Children who were forced to grow up without their mother or their father. Parents who would never know the feeling of their child's embrace. Nearly 3,000 citizens taken from us, leaving a gaping hole in our hearts.

"On September 11, 2001, in our time of grief, the American people came together. We offered our neighbours a hand, and we offered the wounded our blood. We reaffirmed our ties to each other, and our love of community and country. On that day, no matter where we came from, what God we prayed to, or what race or ethnicity we were, we were united as one American family.

"We were also united in our resolve to protect our nation and to bring those who committed this vicious attack to justice. We quickly learned that the 9/11 attacks were carried out by Al-Qaeda - an organisation headed by Osama bin Laden, which had openly declared war on the United States and was committed to killing innocents in our country and around the globe. And so we went to war against Al-Qaeda to protect our citizens, our friends, and our allies.

Hmmmmm....he only said "I" once and that is in the first sentence and the rest of the "We's" was him talking about the USA, including you

Did you listen to his speech?

"I, me, my..."

This is right out of Rush's program. The transcript of the announcement is available and he never used the first person except when referencing something he actually did, like calling the Pakistani government.

of course, everything done to get osama was what he campaigned against, BUT NO MATTER!

Actually he said he would send troops into Pakistan to kill or capture OBL during the campaign and the right attacked him for it.

He actually did that. The President gave the order.

It is also the usual way of speaking about that sort of thing. For instance when GWB announced the invasion of Iraq he said
quote:

On my orders, coalition forces have begun striking selected targets

You really shouldn't believe anything you hear on Rush.

and now Obama claims to be the guy who personally pulled the trigger on Osama

Has this been responded to yet??
Cos I have checked transcripts and speeches,
was it only in neocon silent whistles?
Cos He never claimed any such thing
Another lie from the not so sane one

I think that DS has his answer as to what many are saying, right here in this thread.
Making up lies and denial

Leftists in the media are pushing the political meme as well:

quote:

Barbara Walters Gushes Over Obama's 'Enormously Courageous' Decision to Kill Bin Laden

HARE IT On Wednesday's The View, ABC's Barbara Walters slobbered over the "courage, and the guts, and the coolness" of President Obama in ordering the assassination of terrorist Osama bin Laden. "It was enormously, enormously courageous," she said of the president's decision to commence the mission to kill or capture the al Qaeda leader.

"President Bush tried, President Clinton tried, but Barack Obama was the one who had the courage and the guts and the coolness," Walters said of the mission before being drowned out in applause from the audience.

Two days after she successfully politicized Osama bin Laden's death, Walters hit Sarah Palin for what she thought was Palin's politicization of the news. Palin's remark that Walters referred to was made at a benefit for soldiers in Colorado, and read "We thank our President. We thank President Bush for having made the right calls to set this victory up."

mnottertail -> RE: Cracking the ironclad GOP demographic. (5/5/2011 7:29:33 AM)

And I am going to assume (and I do not think this is an invalid soritical leap) that the right is not pushing that political meme?

The View? It's a talk show for housewives. "The media"?

Viewers have REALLY got to bring some smarts to their watching.

That said, I agree it's over the top.

Sanity -> RE: Cracking the ironclad GOP demographic. (5/5/2011 7:31:08 AM)

Former president Bush certainly didnt want any part of the grandstanding, spiking the football, victory lap.

I applaud him for that

Sanity -> RE: Cracking the ironclad GOP demographic. (5/5/2011 7:36:46 AM)

The hours after the fall of Baghdad was widely seen at that moment as a time of celebrating, Im not so sure that the anniversary of 9/11 or the killing of OBL really is.
