Well, I generally buy mine at one of the cheapest places in the area, and it was $4.18 when I passed on the way home last night. And, oh joy, it's time to fill up.

I wonder how one gives them 9/10 of a cent.

Subf,  your tax must be higher then PA tax.   I am assuming that was 87 octane self serve.

I should have written that I paid $4.42 and 9/10ths of a cent per gallon.

Yes, it was 87 octane, self-serve.

ONLY $4.18!!! What a bargain!
I hope you filled up a couple of gas cans also!

Hello Marini

Its 3.77 / gallon here on average. It goes up slower here and comes down slower too, for whatever reason

TheHeretic -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/8/2011 8:05:15 PM)

Yeah, if you can call it a bargain. That's the station right near the house, too. Now the station right next to work is one of the most expensive in the area, and consistently 25 cents higher.

Marini -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/9/2011 8:24:53 PM)

Yeah what happened to the price of gas TODAY??????
[8|]

I thought it was VERY premature to start celebrating the price of gas going down, and I was right!
It is going back up, and may soon hit $5 a gallon by Memorial Day.

Hillwilliam -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/9/2011 8:28:07 PM)

Dropped here today.

Gas prices seem to be mixed across the nation, the prices of the gas stations that I pass on a daily basis, seem to continue to creep up every night.

Nationally, the average price of a gallon of gas is now $4.00 a gallon.

CBS News- Gas Prices Nationally $4 a gallon

Hillwilliam -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/9/2011 8:51:09 PM)

Ive seen reports saying it will drop 50 cents by summer and Ive seen reports saying $5 by summer. The only conclusion I can draw is noone knows wtf is going on.

^5 on that Hill, the price of gas is on a rollarcoaster, the only thing we can be sure of is it will probably take a LONG time before the price goes down and consistently stays down.

$4-$5 for a gallon of gas is probably going to be our new reality for a long time.

Hillwilliam -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/10/2011 10:15:18 AM)

OK, wierdest gas price change yet. I drove by the 2 stations this morning that I normally use (one on either side of the street).

Last night, one station dropped their prices 4 cents/gallon, the other one raised it 13 cents.

WTF?

OrionTheWolf -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/10/2011 11:11:14 AM)

All the stations around here have raised it 12 to 13 cents on regular, since this morning.

Louve00 -> RE: What happened to that gas? (5/10/2011 12:00:45 PM)

It's basically staying the same in the area of Fla that I'm in.  Last week, the cheapest gas station had regular for $3.88 and as of last night it was still $3.88.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it drops for us soon, but who only knows!?

There is a chain of grocery stores in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania that have their own gas stations and they have a program where you receive a 10 cent discount on gas for every $50 you buy in groceries.

When fuel prices spike they usually bump it up to 20 cents.

But it applies to everything they sell there and they have a large selection of gift cards for Home Depot, Best Buy, Sears, etc.

So if you are making a major purchase from any of those places you can buy the gift card and get free gas in the process.

The discount applies to 30 gallons at one time so everyone just brings extra five-gallon gas containers.

It's an amazing thing to be able to fill up for free.  And their prices are competitive with other grocery chains in the area.

I think Lucy posted something last night about it going up today. I can't remember which thread though. (thanks for the head up there[:)]) I filled up last night, but forgot to look today to see where it was at.
