Hypothetically you meet someone who is the bull to your whip ( I know it was corny but Im sure you get the point) , yet theyre younger than you. Do you put your superficiality aside or are your preferences your preferences.

Seems you have your own superficiality, since you used that word to describe the preferences of others.

When I was 25, age didnt matter. Now that I am.. almost.. 46... I would find it impossible to see anyone more than 10 years younger than me as a potential promise... I dont care how he handles that whip.

I can understand how you could come to that conclusion but age doesnt bother me. Im not looking for a vanilla relationship with a kinky dynamic. Im looking for play partners teachers munch meeters etc.

If she has a taste for some classic R&B all the better!

Tease!!

DId I mention how much I adore brains and a well thought out opinion Tazzy?

EclipseAbove -> RE: is age a automatic deal breaker (5/9/2011 5:29:48 PM)

For me, chronological age is irrelevant. But someone's age in terms of maturity is vitally important and in both directions. If someone isn't close to my maturity, we aren't going to be able to relate to each other and things will never get off the ground.

And this my dear is a big reason some of us older ladies are not interested. You said it yourself. They simply wish to use us for their benefit and think their young stud muffin self ought to be something we are grateful for... after all... he did share something we supposedly can't get too often. Made our day right? lol I would say... that most the men that approach me are just as you are... I could have them every day of the week and then some. I just don't want them. I am not their teacher, experience or anything else. However... they start acting naughty... I might treat them like their mama would.

So basically that bull to your whip thing is a superficial thing eh?

TheRaptorJesus -> RE: is age a automatic deal breaker (5/9/2011 5:34:21 PM)

Since it's hard to find anyone around within even a millenia of my age, I have to keep that bracket pretty open.

It's sad that there's really no one I can talk to that was around to experience the current events of my formative years [:o]

mech1nomics -> RE: is age a automatic deal breaker (5/9/2011 5:35:14 PM)

If that were all I were seeking, then I doubt age would be much of an issue.. except they would have to be over 25... my son is 24.

is age a automatic deal breaker?

Actually it's not a deal breaker at all for me. If I met a 90 year old person who fit my needs well, I would consider them. Same goes for the other direction.

mech1nomics -> RE: is age a automatic deal breaker (5/9/2011 5:38:09 PM)

ok though in all seriousness thats where communication is key @Lockit..when the two parties get together there really needs to be that conversation where everything is laid out on the table and the two parties discuss what theyre seeking and how they plan to get there. I do believeits deeper than "Im a Dom and youre a sub so you should do what I say etc etc etc.

jewelsthepoet -> RE: is age a automatic deal breaker (5/9/2011 5:42:16 PM)

i don't have kids, can't have any, but have played step mom many times.

Age can be a serious deal breaker for me. i have found most younger men, while having a fair drive and more stamina usually, tend to be..... more immature and less likely to be serious about a long-term commitment.

Same thing goes with too old for me. If a guy is within a few years of retirement, sorry, no deal. i've worked in nursing homes and have a step father with Alzheimer's and i know i can't deal with that in 5-10 years when their body starts deteriorating and they start having more serious health issues. Sure, not all do, but i can't risk it. My health is not the greatest and i just can't physically take care of someone who's degenerating due to age-related issues.

I tend to date within my age range, up to 50 or 55 years old. Anything past that at this stage in like just doesn't seem to pan out.

I think beeing with someone wiser is more important, dont get me wrong but i would rather stay alone to go out with drunk 18 years old which all she want is to go party all the time.

Honestly....corny and hypothetical seems to be the norm in my neck of the woods. Age has little to do with it.

You assume preferences are superficial...why? Would you be willing to be open if the whip was held by a 70+ yr old woman who was well versed in all things kink? How open would you be?

For me...

Age is just a number until it creates conflict within a relationship.

I might find a 21 yr old cute (in a perky puppy sort of way), but other than kink, what would we have in common?

I'm meeting with an interesting man this weekend who is 14 yrs older than me...that's pushing the upper limit for me. He has a very creative mind, though, and some fascinating "off the grid" stories so I'm willing to bend my limit in order to be open to meeting and seeing where things go.

An open mind is a good thing, so long as it doesn't become as open as a floodgate allowing anything and everything in.

Yes, but you've already said you aren't looking for anything more than a play partner....I'm interested in more. That's what makes the difference for me.

BTW...you forgot to answer my other question.

For myself, age IS a deal breaker. I have no interest in men who are younger than myself, no matter how good the 'connection' may or may not be.

Isn't the Devil around for you to talk to? And what about all the angels and demons? They never die, so you should have some company around. Not to mention all the people dying everyday. I would think its getting really crowed up there around now.[8D]
