Status: offline 		Trillions in spending cuts are just not happening so I may be wrong but sooner or later they won't make a deal and there will be another recession/depression and interest rates will go through the roof. The economy in the future doesn't look good. Taxes are the lowest they have been in around 50 years and the Republicans put two wars on credit cards and raising taxes on rich people to pay for all of it is not responsible? Cutting trillions in Medicare and Medicaid and hurting the poor is responsible, yeah right!

Ryan and other Republican leaders, backing away from campaign promises of $100 billion in cuts, will instead seek to pare $43 billion from in non-security discretionary programs, compared to 2010 levels. The Defense Department would see an $8 billion, or 2 percent, increase under the plan.


Just what kind of cut is it that takes billions from programs designed to help the poor while giving 8 billion more to defense???

What drugs are these Republicans on? It has been stated in the past by economists that the removal of the Bush ear tax cuts would bring in $700-800 Billion/year. That closes the $900 Billion deficit gap by a very good percentage. After that, if Republicans really gave a shit about the nation, they'd offer up $300 Billion out of the stuff they dont want removed, to get their $200-300 Billion in spending cuts. Not only would that create a surplus on the budget, but could take that money and apply it directly towards the debt principle (thus saving money on future interest payments).

But that would require the GOP to be wise and intelligent on the issue. Brain has it correct: they really screwed the country paying two wars on credit. Thats not to mention keeping the growing national debt a 'secret' by focusing the public's attention on Irag, Iran, Afghanistan, and other Middle East nations. Heck, anyone that tried to keep 'em accountable, were accused of being un-American.

What is worst then the elected Republicans in Congress doing this crap? The idiots who keep voting them in to office.

Theres far too much wrong with every argument on this thread to waste my time disputing, just thought it might be fun to pop one of the biggest brightest balloons you three are trying to sell

    If you wanted that particular article as proof, you should have pointed to it, sorry you got caught out..again
    I say my link has as much to show unhappiness at the bill than yours does and from an earlier date
    my link is responding to your post.
    If Dems were happy about it, Bush wouldnt have used the veto warning.

    Status: offline     		Obama administration suggests that if the debt ceiling is not raised, the US will default on servicing the existing debt. I suspect they are lying as usual. There are many ways funds can be raised without default. To a neutral observer it looks like endgame. If I ask a credit company to increase the credit limit in order to pay fees I am basically financially toast and the default is just a matter of time.

    Status: offline     		I just think it shows the true face of the GOP, from 2001 - 2006 they raised the debt ceiling 4 times, not once asking for any cuts, nor caring what the Dems said. 

    From 2006 - 2008 they rose the debt ceiling 2 more times, never once asking for any cuts anywhere. 


    Nowwwww.....they insist on cuts and will not raise the debt ceiling because of the debt, they just never mention how much of that debt they caused.

    At one time, that spending equated to jobs for new weapons programs, but no more.
