It's not long or difficult reading, so if I suspect you of contributing to the thread without having read the speech, I will boil you in your own entrails. Actually, I'm not sure that's possible. But do you really want to find out?
Some highlights:
See, although I've always been financially independent, and
professionally and socially successful, behind the closed doors of my
personal life I was still turning myself in a pretzel so I'd be loved
by an alpha male. I thought if I didn't become whatever he wanted me to be, I'd be alone, and then, I wouldn't exist.
Personally, I rather like the thought of a pretzel-shaped Jane Fonda, at least if we're talking about Jane Fonda circa 1975. But presumably, if you're a man reading the speech, you're not supposed to admire the man who motivated her to so contort herself. That's because you are a giving, empathic, sensitive good listener--a "vagina-friendly" man, as she will put it later in the speech--who is far above doing anything just to see a scorching hot babe bend her legs behind her neck and lick her own pussy. With her hands tied behind her back. And a vibrator in her ass. And--hey, easy on the tomatoes, Janey-pie. I'm just trying to illustrate what pigs some men can be.
She goes on to say:
There is not the time nor is this the place to explain why this was
true, or why it is such a common theme for so many otherwise
strong, independent women.
So, not only does she admit that she has been a resident of Pretzelville, but frankly states that she's observed many other women there as well. And not just any women, but strong and independent ones! Is it too much to assume that if "otherwise strong and independent" women often end up bepretzeled to badass alpha males (damn, I'm hungry for pretzels now), women who are not otherwise strong and independent are even more vulnerable to the silly-putty treatment? And doesn't that take care of just about all the women in the pool? And--I'm in a dangerous mood today--if we can observe that there is not one culture in the world where this general scenario does not hold true, does that not suggest a biological rather than cultural cause? Good luck with your genetic engineering endeavors, Jane!
