I do not think it is good to pick on young people, and I didn't like it when the media picked on her spawn. Of course, when Bristol Palin went to work as a public spokesperson for a political cause she did throw herself into the fray, so to speak.

I remember seeing pregnant Bristol and thinking "It is hard enough to be a teenage, unwed, pregnant mother without being marched around on your mother's stage this way". Like I said, it was not a very motherly thing to do, and I would not have put my own daughter through it.

True enough, but it's worth remembering that Barbie deliberately thrust her kids into the spotlight to endear herself to the type of reactionary imbecile who thinks that all women should be chained to the kitchen sink when they're not breeding more brats. After she'd stuck them into that position, her complaints about them being picked on were farcical. It's like some b list celebrity selling picture rights to their wedding to Hello! and then bitching that they have no privacy. If she's used her kids as an electioneering prop, then they become fair game.

We part company here, just because she is a dumbass negligent mother for parading her pregnant daughter around doesn't mean all of her kids are fair game. Children do not have a choice about their lives, so someone victimizing them in them media isn't excused because they have pisspoor parents.

Brain, she's not running.
She's making $millions$ each year on the lecture circuit!
Some "tragedy." I'd like to be "tragic" like that!

So she has made a success of herself in your mind because she is able to scam people who are less literate than her?

Rule, take out "Palin" and put in "Obama."
Why do you lefties get sooooo upset everytime ***her name*** comes up? I think it's commical! You're like vampires at the sight of a sharpened wooden stake!
Look at Al Franken, he did pretty well for himself on the lecture/dinner club circuit and he's never been known as an intellectual titan but so what? If people are willing to pay to see someone shouldn't they be allowed to under our capitalistic society?
And what do you know about her audiences, have you met and talked with them? How about Al Franken's audiences, have you met and talked with them?

Well Popeye, I tell you what.  You up for a challenge?

I'll post the 10 dumbest things Palin has said and I'll let you double up to see if anything Obama or Franken has said comes anywhere close to the stupidity she has exhibited.

Rule, there you go again, you want me to answer your questions but you won't answer mine.

The point is that they're being victimised in the media because of their pisspoor parent: this is why I find Barbie blaming the circus around her brood of hobgoblins on the evil liberal media a bit pathetic. She's the one who put them in the (evil liberal) media in the first place, but seems as incapable of accepting any responsibility for that as she is of accepting that anything else might be her fault.
(It's also worth noting that she hasn't stopped bleating about her kids since she stopped electioneering either. Remember that crack about death panels and her Down's syndrome press call prop during the healthcare fiasco? If she isn't going to shut up bleating about her kids to the media, she's got a fucking nerve expecting that everybody else will.)

It wasn't because she was bored it was because people were saying bad things about her family (husband and kids). Something about her husband not being the father of her children - nasty stuff.

So, she couldn't take the heat of being a politician, eh?

And she could easily end the controversy by just releasing the birth certificates, right?

TheCumController -> RE: The Tragedy of Sarah Palin (5/12/2011 5:57:36 PM)

Is this a joke? The only tragedy of Sarah Palin is that she was ever allowed to walk onto the national stage.

Owner59 -> RE: The Tragedy of Sarah Palin (5/12/2011 6:58:43 PM)

Thanks so much Brian for posting this article.

I would have been one of the moderate democrats who would have supported the former version of Sarah, before she sold her soul to the"corporate bastards club".lol

The whole peace gave great insight into Alaska and Alaskan politics.

Would make a good thread in OT. I think there was one, but I couldn't find it.

To make this less of a hijack, I agree that Palin was asking for it by trotting her kids out for the cameras, but it is not the kids' fault when the parent is an asshole.

Moonhead -> RE: The Tragedy of Sarah Palin (5/13/2011 4:35:28 AM)

I didn't ever claim it was the kid's fault, just took issue with Julia supporting Barbie's claim that her kids were off limits if she wasn't sticking them in front of the cameras in order to exploit them herself. I have no time at all for that particular double standard...

The media could have addressed that issue without attacking her kids....

I do not think the Letterman thing was so bad, because Bristol Palin was a paid spokesperson for an abstinence organization, over the age of 18, etc... and when he realized he was speaking about the 14 yr old, he apologized.

Like they refused to lower themselves and maintained a dignified silence about Chelsea Clinton, you mean?

juliaoceania -> RE: The Tragedy of Sarah Palin (5/13/2011 12:55:23 PM)

I thought Rush's commentary on Chelsea was disgusting....

The Bush girls got skewered too.

Moonhead -> RE: The Tragedy of Sarah Palin (5/13/2011 1:04:24 PM)

I was forgetting them. At least the chimp wasn't shoving them in front of the media in order to brag about what a wonderful father he was, unlike Barbie...
