Oh, good an energy policy is being formulated for this country, aren't gonna be able to accuse the neo-cons of that.

Obviously, you are not interested in the law, much like your freinds in Wisconsin.

Sanity -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 7:21:15 AM)

It would be nice if you could debate a topic without feeling the need to lower yourself so, goes for most of the leftists on here

Whats your derail about, are you hoping to establish by those links that the United States is experiencing an expansion of its industrial base?

No, I am showing your derail to be the usual pathetic lies.

Sanity -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 7:24:48 AM)

Not to insult, just to point out a fact. Thats jibberish, a total non sequitur.

Once youve run out of logical argument you dont HAVE to post, in fact you look all the wiser to just walk away

Oh, I will never be as low as you or your neo-con goons and thugs, it is impossible.  You stand in the face of your lies and dissemble and blame others.

I am debating the topic you are off on continuous derail, fanciful flights of imagination, conspiracies in government, partisan bickering, theater, no facts or logic that show any causal effect, and indeed the bulk of the reality pointed out to you in every single link and in the media is that you are wrong, just making the meaning of shit up.

Sanity -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 7:31:47 AM)

Another non sequitur

I will walk away then, and end my part in this derail

Enjoy your day mnot

And in the end, the American corporate culture...is un-apologetic greed.

samboct -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 7:38:47 AM)

Actually Lucy- I don't agree with that. just like there are big differences in small corporations, there are some pretty significant differences in large corporations as well.

One area where we're not hearing about outsize CEO pay is in the renewable energy sector- but this article points out that job growth in this industry is indeed a bright spot. And in contrast to what some other folks are saying about the Obama administration- seems to be putting people back to work.

Well you don't know what a non sequitur is then.  But there is nothing new in the fact that you dont know something.

Alaska is overall a pretty shoddy state in terms of its adhering to environmental law:

http://www.courthousenews.com/2011/05/04/36341.htm

And the federal government correctly steps in and lets them know that like everyone else they have to obey the law.

So, in the face of record profits in healthcare and oil, CEOs are laying off people.

And of course the cause and effect is that we lowered their taxes, so the have an open season on rape and plunder of the American people.

They are not going to put people to work in droves, they are not going to mitigate difficulties, they are going to crib huge bonuses for themselves and their cronies and thugs and goons, and throw a nickle to the stockholders and unrelentingly fuck America.

This is the neo-cons policy and unintended consequences, and they sold the same old fucking lie again.

The foreman said these jobs are leaving boys;
and they ain't comin' back...
To your hometown.

And if they get the subsidies that big oil has gotten these last 150 years or so..............

samboct -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 8:10:24 AM)

Actually, it's a lot easier to track the subsidies that have been given to the renewable energy industry than to big oil, coal, or nuclear power. Nuclear power may have gotten the biggest ones since they don't have to pay for high level waste and can be wildly underinsured. With any kind of reasonable carbon tax- wind is an easy winner economically, solar thermal is pretty good in the Southwest (and has been expanding dramatically in the past couple of years) and PV has good a good match for peak usage. Strangely enough though, we don't hear about these executives laying people off and getting massive bonuses....Maybe because the folks running these companies are often scientists and engineers- not MBAs?

No need to cure it, hasn't been classified as a disease;  regulate it.

Sanity -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 8:14:05 AM)

Again with making energy less affordable...

I thought the point was to lure business here, not to drive it away

Your non sequitur does not match anything in her statement. The point is to lure viable business here, not the bloodsuckers that we are funding now, those can be driven away at any point.

That was historically the case, but the plug has largely been pulled on heavyweight underwriting the nuke industry since the end of the arms race back in the '90s. The majority of the remaining subsidies are the ones that are providing somebody with a sinecure in order to administrate them.

cuckoldmepls -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 8:39:45 AM)

If you don't cut jobs and make your company more efficient then you will end up losing market share, and perhaps even go out of business. While your competition who did cut jobs, takes over your market share, and hires people. This is what capitalism is all about. It rewards hard work and efficiency, while it destroys companies who are inefficient, and non competitive.

If we didn't have this system in place, we would be living in Cuba right now. Like it or not, the system works and any significant moves towards socialism/communism will weaken our system. The closer you get to socialism/communism the worse your economy will get for the long term. The closer you get to true capitalism the better your economy will get for the long term. Unfortunately, leftist think capitalism is what got us $14 trillion in debt. That's not true at all. Big spending liberals and RINO's are what got us $14 trillion in debt. Bush was a RINO along with the half the republicans we are hoping to eventually get rid of. But first, we have to get rid of the liberals, otherwise people will just replace a RINO with a liberal making the problem even worse.

You are also missing a critical point here. Obama hasn't done anything to improve the economy. Both Free trade and Illegal Immigration are still going stronger than ever and he's done nothing but spend more money that we don't have. He is Bush's 3rd term.

I won't even mention attacking a country that had done nothing to us. Oops, that just slipped out.

Thats how we got to where we are at

Perhaps we should ease up on some of the "regulation"

Invite more greed in

cuckoldmepls -> RE: 10 Ceos, have to cut 47,850 jobs!! (5/17/2011 8:53:35 AM)

I don't think people understand the difference between a subsidy and a tax break. What the oil companies get are tax breaks. NOT subsidies

Unless the federal government is writing you a check, it is a tax break, NOT a subsidy. So let's make this clear. Oil companies are not being subsidized. Comprende???

The way I understand it, farmers get paid not to farm too much land. So their prices will stay at a decent level. This is a subsidy.

However, even if I am wrong about the definition, since even the federal government lumps the two together, there is still a big difference, and there is never anything wrong with a tax break, as long as everyone else in that industry receives the same tax break.
