A couple of the facts gathered from the story:

Dominique Strauss-Kahn is a big time French socialist, he was going to run against Sarkozy and was even leading in the polls. Thats all changed now... this has in fact thrown the IMF for a loop along with France's political scene

He  is accused of raping a chamber maid in his hotel room, which was a $3000.00 per night luxury suite. I guess it really pays to be a big time socialist these days?

Final thought - the guy is 62 years old, so I have to wonder if he was under the influence of Viagra at the time. Maybe he was expecting a hooker who never showed?

They gathered DNA, he submitted to the test. They also found his cell in the room. The rest will have to wait.

You do realize that the IMF is not a socialist scheme, but a way in which Neoliberalists can run the world economy.... meaning it indebts poor countries to rich ones so that they can dictate governmental policies of those countries in ways that are favorable to Western Capitalists....

Look up Structural Adjustment Programs, and then get back to me about how this is a liberal socialist plot[8|]...

rape isn't a political party, because if it was:

from wikipedia

Structural adjustments are the policies implemented by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (the Bretton Woods Institutions) in developing countries. These policy changes are conditions for getting new loans from the IMF or World Bank, or for obtaining lower interest rates on existing loans. Conditionalities are implemented to ensure that the money lent will be spent in accordance with the overall goals of the loan. The Structural Adjustment Programs (SAPs) are created with the goal of reducing the borrowing country's fiscal imbalances. The bank from which a borrowing country receives its loan depends upon the type of necessity. The SAPs are supposed to allow the economies of the developing countries to become more market oriented. This then forces them to concentrate more on trade and production so it can boost their economy.[1]
Through conditionalities, Structural Adjustment Programs generally implement "free market" programs and policy. These programs include internal changes (notably privatization and deregulation) as well as external ones, especially the reduction of trade barriers. Countries which fail to enact these programs may be subject to severe fiscal discipline. Critics argue that financial threats to poor countries amount to blackmail; that poor nations have no choice but to comply.

I love the snark on that page, it sounds like something I would think up

Give Sanity a break.

He saw the words 'socialist' and 'France' in a crime news story, and couldn't help himself.

PS. George W. Bush was a Neoliberal!  Ron Paul would fit in the lower right corner, somewhere near the bottom center.

Smells fishy. It could be just a standard procedure to replace the man. The maid will be likely to commit suicide soon because of emotional trauma.

willbeurdaddy -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 11:43:25 AM)

Bush was nowhere near that far right. If he were then in todays doublespeak he would be a "neoliberal". Reagan was the protypical "neoliberal".

Strauss-Kahn should run for office here as a Dem. Rape is a resume builder.

Yes, I can imagine his eyes glazed over, he drooled, and he thought that in some way it could be linked to Barrak Obama[:D]

Here is a diagram of the mental connections he made

Dominique Strauss-Kahn>>>>>Socialist Party>>>>> IMF Socialist Organizatio n>>>>> Barrack Obama>>>>> Socialism>>>> Left Wing >>>> neo Liberal >>>>> communism

You guys are so funny, it is really entertaining for those of us that understand how the global economy works and how these assholes use words like "socialism" to gain respect for their true agenda, which is to rip off every poor needy country they can get their slimy hands on

The chart shows 'economic/free trade/empire' right, not 'political/bible thumper issues' right.

Or she will drop her allegations and have a very large bank account in Switzerland after all of this is over

oh yeh no kidding!

these people never see it coming.  even tyhe japs in their industrial revolution of the 70's forward.   following the uk the combination of merchant, maritime, property law and corporations and trusts into into one mix is a devastating combination nearly impossible to beat or even defend against.  The people in the US and certainly not the poor countries see the writing on the wall.   It is simply that underhanded and of course everything tipped into the hands of the elite.

oh and as far as this guy is concerned, well like the mafia he pissed soemone off or is doing a jack ruby thing, most likely the latter because if he was a good boy this wouldnt even make it into the rag mags.

pahunkboy -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 11:59:40 AM)

Julia is correct.

There is more to the story-   the IMF was to meet to replace the dollar with SDRs.     So- this womanizing is conveniently timed.

The IMF is NOT your friend.

Sanity -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 11:59:43 AM)

Just the facts Ma'am

quote:

The arrest could change the course of France's presidential elections next year. Mr. Strauss-Kahn had been widely expected to leave the IMF soon to enter the race as the leading Socialist Party candidate, and was running ahead of President Nicolas Sarkozy in recent polls. The arrest likely scuttles Mr. Strauss-Kahn's candidacy, and strengthens Mr. Sarkozy's prospects, analysts said. It could also boost the chances of far-right National Front leader Marine Le Pen.

You can post how this guy was a "socialist" all you want, it does not make it so...

Socialists all over the globe oppose the IMF. I can find organization after organization of socialist based groups that abhor the practices of the IMF. What the media says about this guy and his left leanings means nothing to me.

juliaoceania -> RE: IMF Chief Arrested On Rape Charges (5/16/2011 12:05:03 PM)

yeah... how many posts will it take before you are doing that? I suppose if you ever figure out what the IMF really does, and how capitalistic their practices are... you might come to love this guy. He is just the type of man you tend to applaud
