Errr my dogs chase cats, they live with 2 cats and the neutered female thinks all cats are little puppies she needs to mother and wash, heck, she'll even pick up rabbits and mother them (my cats caught one of the miniature domestic bunnies and brought it into the kitchen to "play" with it some more - you know to slowly torture it to death to keep their hunting skills up.

I love cats, hence I got 2, but they are cruel bastards and what you see as playing is keeping the hunting skills up, it's not their fault, they are born with instincts, and while I love my 2 moggies dearly, I'm under no illusion that if I would shrink to prey size, they would do the same to me and try to kill me, not out of malice but because the instinct would take over, doesn't make them evil, just makes them cats...

Oh I agree with you, LC.  I don't think humans breed all instincts out of domesticated animals.  Even dogs keep much of their "pack mentality."

I've done volunteer work for dog and cat rescue and I've seen the pain, confusion and fear they have, after being tortured. Breaks my heart.  samboct may have well been joking but the thing is, people actually DO those things he kidded about, and it's pretty horrific to see the actual results of it.  I just don't get the need to beat up something the size of an infant.  It's not a mindset I'll ever wrap my brain around, or find humor in.

Cats keep the rodents down.    Mice, rats, and so forth.

Cats ask very little from their owners.

Except..
Their own doorway, regular feeding and furniture to mutilate.

...you know it.  I sold my spare bed to buy silver.     Then someone gave me a spare bed.   So it is all good.

Could have bought a spare bed with a silver frame, best of both worlds.

I understand, I can't understand the need to torture anybody outside a BDSM context where consent is given, all my furries are rescues and if the house would be big enough for another bunch of cats and dogs, I'd possibly get them... I was recently laughing that our bills for pet food is as high as our food bill and we're foodies...

Any form of abuse makes me angry, angry enough that if I would notice anybody abusing an animal or a weaker person, I would feel compelled to give them a taste of what it feels like. I did once a few years ago, still got the scars... There were more of them... So in hindsight instead of getting into a fight with a bunch of skinheads who are kicking a dog, I possibly would just take the mobile and call the police...
