Impeaching Clinton for sexual acts was wrong...impeaching him for lying to the American people, under oath, was very correct.

Nation Building

Bush and WMDs

Clinton lied over getting a blowjob from some jewish intern; Bush 's lies have killed thousands of our soldiers, injured eight times that of the dead, and turned a $2 Trillion debt into $11.4 Trillion in eight years. Why do we not see a single conservative, holding Republicans fully accountable?

If you actually studied the Clinton Impeachment history, Congress brought four articles of impeachment for the vote. Two of them succeeded and two failed. So Republicans went back, and simply added the contains of the two articles that failed, into the two that succeeded and charge him as if all four had succeeded on their own. How honest was that impeachment? Oh, and was the Speaker of the House at the time being 100% faithful to his wife? How about all the other Republicans?

RIGHT... Lest we forget the 95 and 2k campaigns where they set "Character" as a key issue. Now in the fullness of time and after a near constant stream of failures in that regard the kids from the republican schoolyard again want to change the rules.

Personally, I think they just keep switching Dommes till the find the one that can get the arm in far enough.

ctually the thread is about 2 men who apparently represent the whole republican party. I find this very amusing. People have said that they would have been ok with the way Newt treated his wife, if he hadn't been picking on Clinton at the same time. Now I am not sure why it would be ok in either case, but I am conservative, so maybe a liberal can explain it to me.

I never said I would have been ok with how Newt treated his wife. The man is a fucking pig. I wouldn't have made it political if the pig had kept to his own mud pit and had not started declaring other mud pits foul.

Sorry, I must have misunderstood this post then...

I wouldn't have a problem with Newt and his interactions with his wives if he had kept his sanctimonious nose out of Clinton's marriage. Newt set the "bar" for standards, then failed his own standards.

I was under the impression if you don't have a problem with something, you think it's ok. I guess you meant something else?

Lets say I start publicly derailing you as sick, perverted, immoral and evil incarnate because you are into BDSM.

I get that on a regular basis because I am republican, christian and homosexual. But you left out racist, homophobic and ignorant. Why not add BDSM to the list.

As to the hypocrisy making it worse. I knew a guy who went to a pro because his wife was dying and he couldn't wait the 6 months for her to die before he got laid. Never mind hanging around the house to help his 3 kids deal with losing their mother. After all he wanted to play.  I don't see him as being any better because he didn't go around preaching about family values. They both cheated and are both pond scum as far as I am concerned.

I haven't really seen you posting racist comments, and I am floored to find out you are homophobic given your circumstance.

But, hey......You said it kiddo, not me.

LOL.  (that gripping conundrum of sentence structure, hah?)

The Bible contains six admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals.
That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals.
It's just that they need more supervision.”

As do we all get that for whoever and whatever we are. If you think there is nothing wrong with lying and hypocrisy that is fine. To each his own. I just think to err is human and holding yourself up to be "God's chosen" knowing full well you are doing the same thing you condemn others for is worse and I backed that up with Bible scripture because I too am Christian. I also think the preachers who build ministries around anti-gay sermons while living as closet homosexuals are more wrong than anything they preach against. Not because they are gay but because they are liars and hypocrites. And as for your analogy they may both be pond scum but at least they are not trying to get elected to office BASED ON FAMILY VALUES. That would indeed be worse than what they both did.

Newt Gingrich urges talk about his personal failings

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich says he has sought God's forgiveness for his personal failings and hopes that evangelical voters take time to talk to him about his two divorces and his affair with the woman who is now his third wife.

How about his current affair with the woman who will be his fourth wife?

That man would definitely be poly if he could get enough women to agree... and could figure out how to make it spin politically.

I do not think that Schwarzenegger campaigned on family values, if he had, my opinion would be far different.

Schwarzenegger's family values - Republican Party - Salon.com
That's mighty nice of him -- a sense of duty reflected over 10 years ago, when his child was likely an infant, and the then-action star discussed what he referred to as "the parenting problem" with Salon. "The parents are the single most important influence on a child, followed by education and the peer group," he told Christina Valhouli. "The number of single parents in the U.S. has quadrupled since the '60s, and there has also been an increase in violence and school shootings. All that stuff has increased largely because of a lack of parenting, and many households only have one biological parent -- so many of them are fatherless. It really creates a big problem."

Is there a point here?

Are you trying to suggest that his admittance of his unfaithfulness has gained him redemption?

I think many people would agree with him, even single parent people. Of course it is ideal for a child to have more than just one care giver. I do not think that it has to be the biological father, mind you, but I definitely think that kids who come from an environment with multiple loving adults are better off (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc etc etc). Unfortunately, the problem for single parents is more economic than anything else....

I would disagree that single-parent families produce little psychos that shoot up schools. I do not know what the stats are, but many of those kids that blow away several people have two parents. Just something i noticed.
