I wouldn't consider that a "nice person". I'd consider that somebody who was telling you who you should like and not like. I'd consider it an insult and I'd have to wonder what kind of an agenda that person has. Why is that "nice person" trying to turn you away from somebody? Why doesn't that person think you are smart enough to figure it out?

well are all different in the way we view things. i don't think that person thinks i can't work it out for myself and i appreciated a well respected (because from what i've seen of that person in the forum, the way they post and the way others respond to them, they deserve that respect) member giving me a heads up regarding something i had done and some members they think are alright. of course i may think differently and will make my own mind up. but like i said, it was handy to have someone who has been here a long time and so has a handle on how people generally are in the forum. it confirmed that i was right about the way i was viewing a particular member. since being here longer i can see that that member has proved time and again to be exactly as i suspected from the start.
the person had no self agenda at all other than to give me a warning about something, and a few people i would be ok with. i wonder if you would feel so bad if someone had said 'i'd be careful about that name, it's a sock puppet and windup merchant. but sunshinemiss is cool if you wanted someone to ask about whatever'
you are not privy to the whole pm or what the original subject was about. therefore you don't understand why the person did it. but it was with very good intention for which i was greatful.
