Pretty much. Despite the best efforts of everyone working here, my asshole of an OCD, micromanaging, perpetually bitchy and judgmental boss is coming back from Louisiana on Saturday. His first act will be to inspect the facility and scream to high hell if he sees so much as a paperclip out of place.

We're kinda hoping the world actually will end. It might be preferable.

There are lots of wild animals running loose around here because of the flooding.
Perhaps he may be unfortunate enough to be sideswiped by a few and delay his return?

In all seriousness, I suppose I ought not to be joking like this.
For the many affected by the Mississippi, this does seem to be the end of the world.

Okay, folks.  Let the "Atheist-in-Leather" set y'all straight. Well, you know what I mean....

Rapture does NOT mean Armeggedon. Rapture is more like "chosen get a pass to Heaven."  And that BIG ride is bodily ascension into heaven.  Armeggedon is more like end-of-world.

Dec. 21st, 2012 marks the change of Mayan calender - just like 2000 did for Gregorian Calendar.  So, of course, that means day-count is predictor of disaster, BUT Mayan turn is on something like 45,000 years (not just 1,000 years which have no meaning is you're using base 60 numbers.)

Any-who.  I'm going to a local <gay> Leathermen only <sorry, Lady Pact> munch.  On that e-mail list, there's been quite the discussion about the "traveling" rapture (6 PM local time) and how news from NYC will allow those that wanna, to repent. Actually - you get almost 2 hours to make up your mind!

BUT since munch starts at local 7 PM - if you're there, you didn't get "raptured." LOL !  Predictions are - same old gang will be there. LOL!  Actually some are coming to "prove" they didn't do the "repent / rapture" thing.  Should be quite the party - oh, yeah, it's not really amunch - more a private house party WITH nudity and play.

And so I am wondering....were this to actually occur...at what time would it begin and at what part of the earth?  Since the guy has declared an actual time - 6:00 p.m. May 21...where in the world will it be 6 on May 21 first?

I mean...seems to me we would have at least 16 hours to watch this all unfold around the globe, with time changes, eh?

So, does anyone know the time table?   Not that I have a concern about being taken early...cuz that is so not happening, but I would hate to miss the excitement if it happens while I am cooking dinner.

Right...I mean...you might want to go out...who wants to leave a dirty kitchen...or have to come back to one after everyone else has left?

Yeah that's kind of what I've been thinking - in what time zone at 6pm?

On another note, I heard on the local radio this morning there's actually a "service" being sold, to take care of people's pets, should their owners get swooped up.  You pay (up front, of course) $135 for the first pet and $20 per additional pet.  Offer is good for 10 years...um...just in case.

Apparently they're making quite a little bundle.

Half past three in NZ, so if this happens at 6pm, afraid I'll be sleeping.    I wanna know who is responsible for putting out the "oopsie" statement when nothing happens.  Just one guy, sitting there, waiting for an earthquake, is it his job to alert the media?   What do you tell the mob who are patiently clutching their bibles, staring heavenward?   Or worse yet, that horde of folks who want to get in on the post rapture looting?   Not sure which group I would be more afraid to face.  Who is in charge?

Lisa

Hias greedy.
If it's the end of the world, I'm going to be upsed about not sleeping over mom's, or inviting men to sleep over my place.

Anyway, Happy Saturday Everybody! M

It's 5:21 am, on 5-21-11. I'm still here.
Is anyone else out there?
Just nod if you can read me.

LOL, still here, poise.

This reminds me of when I moved back to Los Angeles, around 1991.  A lot of us were in lounge chairs on apartment roofs, drinking wine, waiting for that end of the world that was predicted back then.  (The planets were supposed to be in alignment.)

Nobody knows when the end of the world will happen, only God Himself...so...if somebody else knows then it ain't happening.

So what time is it supposed to be, anyone know?  I've got my bottle of grape wine again.
Yes, it's becoming a tradition...I drink grape wine every time the world is supposed to end.  Some traditions are worth keeping, lol.

This Mayan thing was also a movie, right?  Darn, I love disaster movies and need to add it to my list, whatever it's name is.  I have been looking forward to this day for more than half a year, cuz a friend of mine has been driving me nuts insisting that we are biting the big one.  If only he were visiting today the clothes idea might be fun, lol.  I could leave them in puddles on the way to the car...and take a cab somewhere for a few hours.

Anyone keeping track of how many end of the world predictions we have survived in the past 40 or 50 years?

*****
Edited because I mentioned the wrong apocalypse.  My friend is sure it will end in 2012.  Darn, just how many apocalypses do we have on the calender anyway?  I have to be sure to have enough wine, lol.

Still here and still unbelieving.  I did like the New York Police Department's comment on the Rapture:
"We don't plan any additional coverage for the end of the world. Indeed, if it happens, fewer officers will be required for streets that presumably will be empty."  Ever practical, those New Yorkers...
