I am the customer! I pay for your services, I re-arrange My schedule, crate the pets, clear things out of your way so you can gawd forbid do your job with NO limitations and you can't even show up on time let alone effin show up ARGHHHH, since when was being the customer the one who had to roll out the red carpet for the service provider?????? And when I comment that you put Me out, YOU cop an attitude!

Ok My rant is done, anyone else have issues with the sucky customer service we get?

Years ago I had a new large fridge (ice box) delivered to my house. There were two small steps leading into the front door, the deliverymen refused to carry the fridge into the house. I asked why? They said because there were health and safety issues about carrying a fridge upstairs. I pointed out we were talking about two small steps not a flight of stairs. The mouthy one of the two said he hadn't time to argue semantics with me and they went back to the truck and drove off, leaving the fridge on the foot path.

I complained to the store and they said it was nothing to do with them but the delivery people. I phoned the delivery people and they said they had done their job by delivering the damn thing. I phoned the store back and canceled everything else I had ordered, which was a tiny sum. The fridge stayed on the footpath for two days until the police arrived and complained I was causing an obstruction with the fridge. I said it wasn't my fridge, it belonged to the store. The store said it was my fridge and they would only accept a return if the fridge was faulty. I said how the fuck do I know if its faulty or not, am I supposed to unroll a fucking extension cable halfway down the street? The store said I could do what I want with the fridge but they won't accept it back if I damage it. I said they had already said they won't accept it back!

I had to give in in the end but I tell everybody I know not to shop at that chain store.

Here's my rant!!!

I live in an apartment complex that has been purchased by a new company.  They consider themselves Owner/Managers, and assured me things were going to change and be better than it was under the previous management company.

Since the middle of March, I have not been able to sleep past 7am unless it is pouring down rain because they are taking the siding off of all the buildings, putting up new siding, painting, and reroofing all the buildings.  My building was the first one started, and it still isn't finished, but they are working on three other buildings at the same time.  Also, they removed all the gate codes from the security gate, and then posted the generic code for anyone to enter.  Now they have my phone number programmed in for EVERYONE to push to get into the complex.  My phone rings over 100 times a day just from the front gate.

Also, I have maintance issues in my apartment that I have been trying to get addressed for a month now.  The longest one is my garbage disposal is not working which means I cannot run my dishwasher or washing machine without the drainage filling up my kitchen sink and flooding onto my floor.  Also, my air conditioner has not worked for over a week.  Add to that the carpet shampoo I was suppose to get in February and repairing drawers and doors........... HOW is this better??????????

I've called the complex over and over again requesting maintenance (not complaining about the inconviences of the beautification process of the buildings), and I'm always told I will be called back; however, no one calls or comes over.  But you better believe my rent had better be in their hands by the 3rd, or they will level heavy fines and begin eviction proceedures.

Ok............ I'm done ranting (for now).

I recently stayed at a Days Inn.  My final bill was $50 over what I was quoted when making the reservations over the internet, what with all the added taxes and fees and service charges and God knows what else.  When I questioned my bill when checking out, I was presented with a very confusing computer print-out and a lot of snippy attitude from the female clerk.  The manager came out and shoved a calculator in my face (I'm short, the counter is neck-level for me) and told me to add it up myself.

When I complained about the rudeness of the clerk, she told me that "I" was a "rude customer", and when I looked at the manager in shock, he first apologized for her behavior, but then when I sputtered that if this is the way I'm going to be treated, I would never stay at a Days Inn again, he smirked and said "that will be good for us, too."

Aside from the overinflated bill, the hallways were dirty and smelled of urine, and they were out of washcloths for the entire weekend.  But because I complained, I was the rude one.  I plan to write a formal complaint letter to the home office, not that I think it will do much good.

Last bad customer service experienced... waited 20 minutes to pay the bill at a restaurant. There were 4 tables and 5 waitresses but no one could get service.  Pretty sad

I read this with interests. I had a bad time about 4 months ago with a Days Inn, so I wrote the home office. Not only did I get my money completely refunded, I got a letter of appology from the Manager of the hotel I stayed at. Do write.

Thanks, veryfewcan, now I'm even more encouraged to write them, lol.  A full refund would be awesome.  By any chance, was the Days Inn in Canton, Ohio?

My biggest beef right now is with my car and health insurance companies.  They're always polite, just extremely inept.  It's way too long of a story to tell here, but I'll suffice it to say that they were charging us way too much.  After over five months of idiocy, amounting to nearly three straight weeks of daily phone conversations with them (four hours a day), I finally was able to get a hold of someone who knew what they were doing at the health insurance company (Sagamore Health Network/ Medical Mutual) to actually pay the bills they owed, and refund us what we'd overpayed.  I had to handle the car insurance (Indiana Farm Bureau) myself.  Thank the powers that be that I save every damn receipt that crosses my path.  I managed to prove to them that they owed me several hundred dollars.  If I hadn't nearly stalked them, I'd have never gotten my money back.

Usually I get great customer service wherever I go.  If not, I rectify the situation to the best of my abilities.  It's something I just won't tolerate, unless there are extraneous circumstances.

Oh, and I just remembered a funny Kroger (Payless to those of you in Indiana) story.  On Valentine's day I special ordered my husband this really cute cupcake.  I pick it up and go to pay.  I tell the sixteen-year old kid at the checkout to be careful with it, or it would be ruined.  What does he do?  He picks the damn thing up, flings it across the scanner, and throws it down to the bagger.  It was destroyed.  I demanded he go get me a new one made from the bakery lady.  He looked at me like I'd grown a third head and said in a rude tone of voice, "I'm not going over there.  She'll get pissed."  I looked at him and said, "Oh, trust me, you most certainly will.  And I'm waiting right here until you get it."  After a bit of argument, the kid gave me a shitty look and charged off to get me a new one.  The bagger boy apologized profusely.  I admit that after I payed I tattled to the manager.  This kid was unbelievably rude.  It doesn't end there, though.  About a week ago I went to the same store (it's really close to my house) and bought several things, including a few cases of pop.  While I was paying, the bagger in the next lane stole my empty cart (which was still right in front of me, in my lane, and I needed it to put the pop in).  The bagger was the same kid who threw my cupcake!  Grrrr.  I looked at him and said, "That's my cart.  I need it."  He said, "Too bad.  I'm using it now."  The lady, a nice woman in her mid-forties, who was bagging my groceries, gave me a weak look and said, "Oh, did you need that?"  Well, let's see.  I'm seven months pregnant and I have three cases of pop to get out to the car.  Yes, I fucking needed it.  Ok.  I just thought that part.  What I said was, "Yes, I did."  And no one did a damn thing about it.  I had to go get my own damn cart.  I just don't understand people like that, I guess.

I've only had two really bad customer service issues.  One was with a floor refinisher who couldn't be bothered to actually show up and do the job, and when he WAS here, he'd work two hours and then disappear.  I finally fired him and hired someone else to come in and finish the job so we could move into our house the following weekend.  Of course, it wound up costing us $400 more than it would have if we'd just hired the second guy from the beginning.

But the real kicker was this one:  We were looking to upgrade our two wood-burning fireplaces to gas inserts, at a cost of about $11,000.  Now, I'm thinking this is a pretty nice sale for somebody, right?  Wrong!

One Saturday last spring, we found a place about 40 minutes from here that had the perfect insert for our fireplace - the right look, the right size - everything.  So the very helpful salesman on the floor took all our information, seemed eager to get the job rolling, and said someone would be out the following Thursday morning to take measurements and get us an estimate.  Thursday morning came and went, and no one showed up, so I called.  They said the person who was supposed to have been out was at another location, and could they come out the next day.  OK, I can go with that, so I make arrangements to be home the next morning to meet with them.  No one showed up.  OK, so this time I'm annoyed, and I call and ask to speak with the manager.  This woman gets on the phone and, although she seems sympathetic, she tells me she doesn't know how we could have had an appointment for that week, because the guy who does the estimates was on vacation that week.  All righty, then.

So I make an appointment for the NEXT Thursday.  Again, no one shows up.  I call them again and speak with the same woman, who apologizes profusely and SWEARS her brother will be over the very next day to check out our fireplaces.  Finally, the next day, the guy actually shows up to take measurements.  He seems like he knows what he's doing, and he does measure the openings and check for possible placement of gas lines and such.  His final words to me were that he'd have an estimate for us by the following week and would be giving us a call.

A year later, we still don't have the estimate.

You know...what did happen to those days where people believed in doing a job/doing it right/ and making sure the customer is TOTALLY happy before leaving?  Have we really sunk that low? a person's business reputation used to mean something.

and i hate to bitch but i got into an argument with the landlord and he goes "im doing you a favor trying to fix your water heater and this is how you treat me" (because he didnt like the fact that i was tired and really didnt want to talk about something else).  My whole thing is it's his house and his responsibility to fix it...he wasn't doing ME a favor.  He was just taking care of his property.  And it's the least he could do since he never removes the snow, rakes, mows or fixes anything that needs fixing.

Our local McDonalds used to give absolutely horrific service. In the span of a couple of months, I had several orders messed up, and had to deal with the intellectual equivalent of a dog turd at the speaker. Once I was told that even though it was 11:00 (which is when the lunch menu kicks in), it would "be awhile" before anything was ready, and no I couldn't go ahead and place my order. Another day, after I managed to get shit-for-brains to take my order, I was at the first window, waiting to pay for my meal, and at the next window, some loathsome cow-woman was holding my food out the windown, waving it up and down, like "here, come get your shit".....

I put a hex on every motherfucking one of those twits, and service has improved greatly.

Mr. Patience
