I am the customer! I pay for your services, I re-arrange My schedule, crate the pets, clear things out of your way so you can gawd forbid do your job with NO limitations and you can't even show up on time let alone effin show up ARGHHHH, since when was being the customer the one who had to roll out the red carpet for the service provider?????? And when I comment that you put Me out, YOU cop an attitude!

Ok My rant is done, anyone else have issues with the sucky customer service we get?

Oh do i EVER understand this. i think it sums up to a society in general that has discarded integrity, values, standards - belief in anything "unseen". It started many years ago, i think by the phone company when they began this "we'll be there on such n such a day between 8am and 12pm." Customer service began to disintegrate and it's escalated.

People's word have no meaning any longer. i notice this particularly on the West Coast where people are less direct in general imho. People say something and then act like it was never said. They don't acknowledge the agreement, they just pretend it never happened and then look at you like you're nuts when you're confused or upset. Business has become more like this as well - "we do whatever we want." Hell businesses are allowed to change their terms and conditions of agreement without saying a word to you. If you ignorantly break the terms that no one mentioned, then you're out a luck.

Yes, i agree integrity has gone to hell in a hand basket. All i can do to counter it is be the best business woman i can be, delivering excellent, reliable service, based on the desires and needs of the customer, not me. Also, my word is my bond. If i say i'll do it, it gets done. If something legitimate comes up preventing me from doing it, i offer an apology, an explanation and a few suggestions as to how it can be accomplished in the future. A handshake would still work with me because i strongly believe in my word.

I have not read the entire thread, but still wanted to throw my .02 in.  I've done customer servine in various forms about 10 years. (not anymore though).  I loved it and was very, very good at my job, often getting compliments from high ranking people (I worked for cable tv industry and got lots of kudos from county officials).  No matter how badly I was ABUSED by the previous customer, I always answered the next call as if they were 1) the first call of the day 2) the most important caller of the day and 3) as if that person personally signed my paycheck because in my mind all three were absolutely true, at least 2 and 3 were.  I was trained very well but also my natural instincts have always been to be polite, and to take care of other people.  Also, I treated, and still do treat, others as I wish to be treated.  I think every person should do a week in customer service in their lifetime.  I frequently give feedback to management of places I do business, both positive and negative.  And if I don't get the response I want I take my business elsewhere, notifying the appropriate person(s) as to why and I make sure to tell others, too.  conversely, I do the same with excellent service, too.

customer service has gone way down in this country.  It can still be found and when it is, needs to be positively reinforced.  End of my .02.  Have a great day everyone!

If I do not get what I want the first time, I ensure that I do.  Simple.
