nice troll post

so then the moral of your story is to take guns away from cops.

I would sure take it away from him.

Either that or just give Barney one bullet that he has to keep in his pocket.

Andy was a very wise man.

flcouple2009 -> RE: Man Shoots Self With Own Gun (5/22/2011 2:50:29 PM)

It would be better,  I don't know how but it would be better.

Moonhead -> RE: Man Shoots Self With Own Gun (5/22/2011 3:02:44 PM)

Fair enough.

There is another side to private gun ownership.

All the damage, death and loss due to having them in the house.

Well, I think you also have to count all the death and loss attributable to assholes filling people's heads with faux facts that make them afraid of being able to defend themselves.

I'm very dubious that anybody would be seriously put off buying a gun by a story that some halfwit's shot themself in the foot.

That's a fair point -- at least with regard to the example, if not the agenda behind it.

Too, we're all probably advantaged by people who would be put off by such an example not carrying. [:D]

Let me ask you something Kirata.

How many times in your life have you ever found it necessary to defend yourself with a gun?

I never have.

Is it my good fortune to have lived such a safe life?

Or is there a disconnect with reality sponsored by the NRA?

This flip side to ownership rights should also get some attention.

You want to ban guns because some idiot shoots himself in the foot?

Are swimming pools next, because they are MUCH more dangerous.

How about the sun? All those people getting sunburns, heat exhaustion, and dehydration every year.

Should we ban the Earth's tilt as well? All those cases of frostbite every year.

Ya know, we just can't be too careful. [8|]

jlf1961 -> RE: Man Shoots Self With Own Gun (5/22/2011 4:11:01 PM)

Okay, since automobiles have a higher death by accident average than guns, as does accidental poisoning, drowning, and a SHITLOAD of other things that have more deaths due to accident than guns, Lets just ban cars, swimming, and everything that someone could get hurt doing.

Following your logic Owner59, that is what should be done.

By the way, I AM A DEMOCRAT, LIBERAL, AND A FUCKING GUN OWNER, YOU CAN HAVE MY GUNS WHEN I AM FUCKING DEAD.

Do you remember that movie, The Matrix? We would have to live like that. Those mechanical cocoon things with 'nourishment' and all stimulation being provided through those poky-entrance things.

How about if we just find a way to ban idiots from having guns?

But since it is not possible to identify all the idiots then our only two alternatives are to let idiots continue to shoot themselves and other people or to adopt some sensible legislation to keep guns out of the hands of idiots.

Me, once

Once more when I was under 5 and my mom shot through the door on somebody who was trying to break in at 3 in the morning.

I had a friend in TX who shot an intruder one night.  Lucky the intruder he is an excellent marksman and shot his ear off rather than kill him.

Any other questions?

Let me see if I understand this.     Its not possible to identify all the idiots to ban them from having guns so we legislate something to keep guns out of their hands as a sensible alternative ?????

OK.  Accidental self-inflicted wound.

I have to agree on the assessment that they guy might not have been too bright.  The story does mention that the guy tried to lie and say an intruder shot him.  If he wasn't smart enough to know that was going to be figured out, I'm guessing he's not Einstein in the first place.

If I cut Myself with a knife in the kitchen, should we ban those?

Well this is the rub with stupid people with guns.

The bullets don`t give a fuck who discharged them and go wherever they are fired.

Sometimes it`s a foot, sometimes it`s the neighbor`s 6 year old, sleeping in their crib when a stray goes through their nursery room walls.

The NRA types are bent on arming even to most stupid amongst us.

Gun ownership rights should also carry a hefty amount of responsibility with them.

Thats whacked out and absurd.  Could you provide some examples or evidence of this ?

So why not tell us something we don't know ?  When ever do they not ?  I mean , if you shoot some one who hadn't ought to been shot then you will damn sure have to answer for it.  Even if some one is shot who needed to be shot you will have to answer to that as well.

Owner59 -> RE: Man Shoots Self With Own Gun (5/22/2011 6:03:18 PM)

Well,that`s not always true.

If you`re dick cheney, you get your victim to appolgize to you for shooting him.

And where did I say I was against gun ownership, besides no where?I own weapons myself.

I posted this to have a discussion on the down-sides,which seems near impossible for some here.

Omg we can`t do that,....you want to ban guns, yada yada yada...[8|] yawn.

I hope the guy loses his "right" to own a gun forever and is charged with lying to police, etc. and comes away with a record with some time in jail to think about things.

Since it happened 4 months ago, it should be possible to find out.
