If you just don't want the images scrolling by while you are on the home page, and you use Internet Explorer, open the favorites bar, and adjust the width. Voila!

Since I usually have that bar open, I didn't even know the ads were there for quite a while.

Excellent idea! I don't have police trouble, but the ads have recently become much more annoying with advent of those mini-movies they run. The constant movements draw your eye to them.

Yeah that was so off based from her problem you can't think someone actually read her post.

No they read MY post:

I agree with wishing to be able to block them, but for a different reason.

When without home internet, I have taken my laptop to the library to check mail, post on the boards, etc. My local library is quite small (no little private cubicles or anything), so I am at a table in the open. I would rather not offend someone who happens by and glances in my laptop's direction see images they don't wish to see.

At home, they seem much easier to just ignore, lol. I understand that it is CM's bread and butter, but having a "text only" option or something would be nice. It would be helpful to those with slow computers as well, since they wouldn't have to wait for all the pictures to load.

I certainly wasn't hijacking, and honestly sunshine I have no idea how you can deal with your problem, it sucks.

On the other hand, perhaps if people actually read ALL the posts or laid off the caffeine, there wouldn't have been such a need to snark at The Heretic who offered a solution to my comment.

sunshine, I hope you find something soon. As I mentioned, being able to view it as "text only" seems like it could solve your problem. Perhaps you could contact support and see if that's possible.

PA, your doctor needs to adjust your meds or you need to stop sniffing model glue.

Outlier hooked me up. ANd HLH helped me also on the other side. The problem seems to be fixed.

I just found it really irritating because I have an actual, identifiable problem that was going to make me leave CM if it wasn't resolved. For folks who don't know, I don't have a huge social network here - the culture is a hard one to live in. I love CM - many of my friends are here, and I enjoy that we have such great topics and discussions. I was in this "Oh no!" mode of thinking that I would have to give up something that brings me a lot of pleasure and the all important connection with people. I knew there had to be a fairly easy solution, and then got attitude about "leave the country". Come on! Would people say that to someone else? I have a job that I love. I have time to work on my avocations. I thought it was a kind of pissy thing to be told such drivel.

I mean what am I supposed to do? Ok. So, let's say I leave Korea. Where will I go? Where will I work and be paid well with the amount of time off that I have and where I can spend my time and energy getting several projects finished?

Sorry if I was snarky - and I have read all the posts. There have only been a few of them today, though, so I can't say that I remember every detail of what I read yesterday. Old age and all that!

best,
sunshine

Glad you fixed the problem, and thanks to Outlier and HLH for keeping you here!

I didn't offer advice because I didn't have any, but I was hoping for the best!

I never suggested you don't appreciate free speech, Sunshine, it's just that you'll find it sweeter after living with something else.

I think it is incredibly nervy for a cop to send you a note. You should get out of that country. It sounds like a dive.
