This weekend has had enough calories in it to make up for 3 weeks of eating right! Doh!

Friday night: beer
Saturday morning: chocolate chip pancakes with syrup and whipped cream and BACON! (Daddy and Uncle K spoil me something fierce)
Saturday lunch: beer
Saturday dinner: steak w/cheese, green peas, salad w/ oil and vinegar dressing, 3 glasses of wine
Saturday after dinner: rest of bottle of wine, more beer, rum, chocolate cake and milk
Sunday breakfast: coffee, left over chocolate cake, energy drink

The thought of how many miles I'm going to need to run this week to get over this weekend is scary. But the emotional rollarcoaster of this weekend has led to depression eating. For the first time in 12 years I saw Daddy and Uncle K have a problem with each other. And it was really upsetting to me. Uncle K actually got up and left at 2am this morning because he didn't want to argue with Daddy anymore. He knew something was wrong with Daddy but Daddy refused to talk. Until after Uncle K got fed up and left. Then Daddy finally realized he was being stubborn and allowing his bad mood to effect the rest of us and he spent the next hour trying to call Uncle K to apologize but uncle K had left his phone turned off and we still haven't heard back from him and I'm worried cause well...he had helped me through the wine and the beer before he left.

I stayed out of all of it as best I could unless one of them asked me a direct question but it was all very upsetting. I just stayed curled up in the middle of the bed and tried to hide my face with my stuffed squirrell so they didn't know I was crying.

Yesterday, I ate my usual breakfast, snacked on a kiwi, cut up the veggies & made a lovely salad & put 4 oz of tuna on it. The cats went nuts, but they're allergic to fish, so I got to eat the whole thing myownself. My snack was a few baked potato crisps. Last night I was very sleepy & tired so just wanted some comfort food for dinner. I made 2 very small pork chops--the end of the roast--& fried some loaded mashed taters & ate the veggies that hadn't fit into the storage container. For dessert, I had yogurt & cereal with cocoa in.

Today I woke up ravenously hungry & am about to eat my yogurt, cereal & banana breakfast. Getting back to my nocturnal schedule was harder than I'd thought it would be & I went to bed before 10 but didn't wake up till after 9.

Eating all day... how do you do that?
i know that we are suppost to eat three meals a day, with two snacks... yeah that doesn't happen in my world.

i do drink soda throughout the day, which gives me calories and such. This is a mutation from my bio-mother's hummingbird diet of iced sweet-tea all day. The family diet method seems to be to consume your own body weight in sugar every day...
Then there is a shared meal at the end of the day to make the body tired enough to fall asleep, maybe.

i'm not saying this is a good method, i'm saying i don't know how to break the habit. Especially with summer coming. If i eat during the day, i get ill.

Not drinking the sodas would help you to feel hungry so that you would eat more meals & snacks. Another thing is to not think of them as meals, to just eat small amounts 6-8 times a day. Do you ever snack on anything at all? I find that eating a piece of fruit or a few chips with some hummus can feel like a whole meal to me.

I also had to learn to eat more often the first time that I needed to lose weight. I had been brought up on 3 meals & no snacks, although that changed when I got my growth spurt in junior high. I'd come home from school so completely ravenous that I'd eat a full meal then & be hungry enough to eat dinner with seconds also. And cookies & milk before bed too! And I was a scrawny waif.

But I understand your problem. I often need to be reminded to eat. I'll get to doing something & think, "I should eat" & a couple hours later think, "I should eat" & it will end up being 6 or 8 hours later & I still haven't eaten. When I am attempting to lose weight I will force myself to eat more often to keep the metabolism stimulated.

I also don't always perceive hunger in a "normal" way. I'll never think hunger until I start getting crabby or a headache or my stomach cramps up. Then I'll think back to the last time I ate & realize those are my body's way of telling me I need to feed it. But traditional feelings of actual hunger? Not so often.

i'm getting some where with grapes. They are cold, so in a weird way, i don't think of them as food. Its more like an oral fixation, a game. Crunch the little water balloon with teeth.
Yesterday, i took a cab into town and then walked all about, hince i'm a little sore today.
But i did get a large package of bottled water, and i'm trying to alternate can of soda, bottle of water, and no caffeine after dark.

i ate more often on junk food during school to stay awake during the night. But that was eating during the night, which doesn't help my body reprogramming to eat during the daylight.
One day i wasn't feeling well, and my flat-mate said i looked like my blood sugar was low and she wanted to test it. i saw nothing weird about this so i let her. Turned out my blood sugar was really high. 'Don't remember the number but she said it was almost diabetic levels.
Not sure what all that amounts to, but there are bigger fish to fry when i go to the doctor's office.

Right now, the thread and baby steps are helping a lot, but i figure it'll take a while to fix years of programming.

e2a

This flat-mate and i pierce and tattoo each other all the time, so a little prick of the finger is all in a day's fun.

I wanna move in with you two!! I got me some ideas for some tattoos I want.

I think you're on the right track with the grapes & the water. I try to drink nothing but water at home. I've pretty much given up soda. But I will sometimes drink a 2-liter bottle over the course of several days. Sort of a treat I get myself on payday. I don't like the taste of HFCS & I don't like to ingest aspartame, so the sodas are very rare. I found a liquid flavoring for water that doesn't have aspartame in it & you can regulate the amount you put in because it's a squeeze bottle. The less flavoring the better for me.

I'm considering giving up caffeine now to lower my blood pressure & heart rate. That's really really skeery. But also, every weight loss program I've ever heard about recommends no caffeine. So maybe it will help there also. Who knows??

The Misanthropic Commune fluxes from 2 - 5 at a time, and the critters, and all the incorporeal things about.
It can be pretty fun around here, you hear things like " Her faery is out again " or " Can you show me how to do that thing with the rope again? " and " Fae, where did you put my pants when you moved stuff ?"
Though games like " Ancient Egyptian Spelling Bee " aren't for everyone.

And speaking of headaches, do be careful with the caffiene. Withdrawal headaches are ebil !

My brother has recommended a book for me called "The 4-Hour Body: an Uncommon Guide to Rapid Fat-Loss, Incredible Sex and Becoming Superhuman" by Timothy Ferriss. It outlines a plan that claims to help you lose 20 pounds of fat in 30 days, so, here goes nothing.

I truly hope it has because nothing else has thus far. However it seems that it's absolutely necessary to eat the first meal within an hour of waking. I'm just lucky to get out of the house by then if I'm working so that will be a challenge for me.

Yesterday i took the dog for a walk in the sun. Still don't think i got any vit D as i had on SPF 75. Take that sunlight !
But... i still got ill from the light, so i'm waiting til after the heat of the day to take the pup for our 'long' walk.

Dinner last night was 5 oz chicken breast
1 cp of steam broccoli
and a cluster of grapes.

I also like the cloudier days. But being nocturnal, I think that's normal. I loved living in Seattle. I have the opposite of SAD, I think.

Last night's dinner wasn't all that good for me: 10 wild mushroom & cheese raviolis with a little shredded cheese melted on. And I had some yogurt & cereal with cocoa in. I was having an emotional evening. I didn't even bother to fix a salad, even though it's very easy to do.

Yesterday's lunch was a salad with a little bacon & cheese for protein.

I haven't eaten breakfast yet today. This is day one of weaning myself off caffeine. I had 3 cups of half-decaf instead of 2 or 3 40mg Stok's. I took one vicodin & I'm loopy as shit!!! I need to eat my yogurt & cereal now. I did have my banana because I woke up hungry.

Breakfast was the usual. Lunch was a salad just like the day before. Dinner was fried mashed taters & 3 fried eggs. I may have some yogurt with cocoa in for dessert. I've been watching movies & Monk episodes today. Been highly entertained. It was very hot out & I never did get outside. I really need someone to whip my butt & enforce some structure on me. How do you do that, Fae when Chaos is away?

I admit I sat down over the weekend, re-read my zone diet books, planned out a new daily menu for myself, went shopping, spent a couple hours in the kitchen monday afternoon and prepped and pre-cooked good healthy meals for the week, put them in tupperwares and set them in the fridge.

I admit this is NOT the admit thread so I don't know why I've started my sentances that way.

Going to workout soon.
