Hi All:
I didnt' do too badly this long weekend w/my eating so the guilty feelings are held in check.......for now
I did my strength training on Friday evening, did some walking w/the dog & my girl over the weekend but yesterday she & I drove about 2.5 miles to the dog park then I walked back w/the dog. It was very hot & muggy so I worked up a good sweat plus it wore the dog out for the night
Today I'll be in the gym doing my strength training.

Today's workout:

Warmup: 2x (lunges, squat snatch form pratice, situps, back ext, jumping negative pullups, pushups)

Strength work: Bench press - 10@65#, 10@75#, 8@75#

WOD: "amanda" - 3 rounds of:
15,12,9 pullups
15,12,9 dips (pullups and dips were both on the gravitron)
9,7,5 squat snatch (45#)

Skill work: hanging knee lifts - 3x10

-going into this I was a bit afraid of the squat snatches, I'd never done them before and I was convinced I was going to lose the bar but I did good and hit parallel or below on every one. Next time ill have to try heavier.

Breakfast was the usual. Lunch was a salad just like the day before. Dinner was fried mashed taters & 3 fried eggs. I may have some yogurt with cocoa in for dessert. I've been watching movies & Monk episodes today. Been highly entertained. It was very hot out & I never did get outside. I really need someone to whip my butt & enforce some structure on me. How do you do that, Fae when Chaos is away?

How do you make the fried mashed potatoes? All I can eat is applesauce and potatoes, and I am trying to mix it up so I don't go crazy.

Potato patties...........mmmmmmm, love 'em!

Trapped, make some mashed potatoes, shape them into "burgers" then fry them up!

I'm trying really hard not to make bad faces at the fried mashed pototoes.

In the spirit of helping with fitness and nutrition, might I suggest something a tad healthier. Mashed cauliflower is a great alternitive to mashed pototoes. Steam the cauliflower, put it in a bowl, add butter, beat until smooth. Good stuff, slower absorbing carb, more fiber and nutrients. My 90 year old grandfather who grew up in the meat and potatoes era can hardly tell the difference.

Ahhhh...that's where I have the problem. That old bugaboo self-discipline. Never really learned how to do that very well. I grew up with very controlling parents who were happy to micromanage me & I was happy to let them. *sigh*

I make mashed potatoes then refrigerate them. I melt a small pat of butter in a non-stick frying pan because the butter makes them brown up so purty. I then put the cold solid potatoes in & fry them on one side till nicely brown & a little crispy & turn them over & repeat on the other side. I think I fry them on med-low to med heat. Hard to tell since I have a gas stove & the knobs have no markings. You need to keep an eye on them because they can burn.

I understand what you're saying, Ghita, but Trappy has an issue with what she can eat right now. And I don't think that mashed taters are going to be all that harmful. I think that sometimes we get too caught up in the "this is healthier than that so you should only eat this" mentality. Sometimes we need to just eat as well as we can.

And thank you for the tip about cauliflower. I've heard about that but never tried it.

I'm on day 2 of weaning from caffeine, so that may have come out bitchier than I meant it to. Take it with a grain of salt, ok?

I've had my morning banana & 2 cups of half-decaf, my first bottle of water & am getting ready to have yogurt & Kashi U now. I really really really need to cut up that fruit today or it's going to be a waste. & I hate wasting food more than anything!!!

Yesterday, I spent 3 hours hiking and impersonating a mountain goat in 5" platform heels for a photo shoot.  Today, I managed to limp to the couch around 12:45.   I'm still trying to figure out how many calories I burned doing it.  I do know I am officially too old for this shit.  I also know my ass is even larger than I realized.  Digital photos let you see it all instantly and in excruciating detail.  Oy vey.    I'm going to have to step up my workouts.

I didn't really mean it as " oh don't eat that, its bad". Just trying to give some extra ideas that I've found seem to work for me. Don't forget, I went cold turkey on coffee this week too...you and I could fun having a go at each other right about now. Haha

Last year when I had some dental work done, I LIVED on milkshakes and banana pudding for a week.

I'm thinkin we could both get moderated to the point of a permaban if we let loose!!

So far, I've only told one guy off & put him on ignore & deleted 2 people from my friends list over on Fet. But the week is young!!!

Warm and humid greetings, my tribe. I have just sat here playing catch-up for about two or three days of posts on this thread, and I approve of every syllable, especially the menu suggestions which rock and are giving me ideas I hadn't even thought of, Thank You all! Srsly, this thread is becoming everything I hoped it would be, and it's all y'all's fault!!1! ;P

I have been having a reasonably rough go of it the last three days with the advent of moonrise, which is not an excuse but merely a statement of fact. I have not exercised except outside in my garden, and my eating habits have been sporadic and comprised of questionable ingredients like a Hershey bar and a trip to the Asian buffet.
Summer appears to have arrived here in the Carolinas with no small amount of enthusiasm when my back was turned. It is -=Very Hot=- and the humidity is enough to choke a horse. And we.. are without an air conditioner, because our old one finally went the way of all things, but the new one should be here in the next day or two. So for these reasons, my exercise and eating habits will continue to be mildly off until the mitigating factors are taken care of. Lots of water, salad and fruit, small amounts of comfort food, and exercise when I can stand it without passing out..

Might I suggest long walks in the evening if it's cooler for you, SJ?

I met a woman at a local munch & we've been talking about getting together. She has lung issues & is on disability. I'm not working & have the back pain issues. So we've decided that we are going to start walking together every day that we can, even if it's only a half block to begin with. She said there's another disabled woman who may want to join us also. I'm super excited about this, as we both tend to just hang out & do very little physically.

I'm so happy that I'm getting involved with locals here. I tried it a couple of times in Oregon but ended up getting caught up in others' drama. This time I am determined to remain oblivious to the drama if there is any.

Tomorrow at noon is our first walking date.

Yes, walking is my friend. I don't do it enough, anymore. Speaking of which, I am really diggin' Lin's new notion of walking with other ladies who have physical issues of some flavor - WTG with the mutual support, there!
At the moment, though, my main impediment is not the fargin' heat, it's moonrise.. which has sapped what energy I have and replaced it with pain, odd swellings, and a deep lethargy.. all of which will be better in a day or two, and most especially when the new air conditioner arrives and I can breathe again..

Don't forget me...I am trying to finish off some Diet MD and move about.  There is a small thing called HEAT WAVE down here.  I think that I will start walking while the sun is rising.  I am ready to introduce some protein shakes to help it along (but I am broke until Friday).  This is where I wish I had a Daddy who is willing to help out...

I decided since we were spending so much time on here talking about fitness I would add a link to my blog in my signature. Not that there is much in there that I don't post on here, but still

For dinner tonight, I had a 100 calorie pudding cup, and a 1/4 can of french-cut green beans.

I am finding that this surgery has done me a world of good. I've now had to slow down eating so much that I eat about half of what I normally would.

Salmon is the life-blood of this Norwegian!!

I had a big salad today for lunch & am about to cook my dinner. I'm having the same thing as last night. I need to go to the store & get more fresh veggies since I ate the last of them along with the last of my leafy greens in my salad at lunchtime.
