You might try the YMCA. I think some typically have pools.

The YMCA charges for the use of their facilities. I've looked into it. Due to my reduced circumstances, I could probably get a reduced fee, but they do still charge something. When one hasn't enough money to provide the necessities it is difficult to allocate the funds to something like that.

Austin does have pools but Mount Pleasant does not.  Just the pool running doing the summer.

Add the price of gas and you get the picture...

I did about 20 minutes on the exercise bike, then was going to head into some squats but they were being used. They were busy dead lifting 540 pounds, so I just substituted hack squats instead. I got in some power cleans. The last time I ever did them was in high school. I might try and work them in more often.

The people in those spin classes peddle their asses off.

Power cleans 5x95, 6x135, 5x185. Hack squats 12x90, 10x270, 10x270, 8x320. Leg curls 10x80, 6x155, 10x125, 10x80.
Leg press 10x270, 10x360, 10x450, 12x500. Deadlifts 20x120, 15x200, 20x200. Calf raises 50x150, 30x210, 30x250, 30x310, 50x310.

Now I just have abs to do.

I loved Spin Class but now that I'm using the gym at my work & they don't offer Spin Class............................
I did do the Circuit Training class last night.  When I got home I was still pumped on endorphines so I skipped my HHA workout and walked the dog.  I planned on a 3-mile walk but shortly into the walk I started to crash so we only did 1 mile then went home.
Tonight I'll be doing my "Fast & Furious Insanity" dvd that I rec'd last night.

Just trying to get the treadmill into the house from the garage, finding/rearranging for space and putting that damn thing together has been quite the workout. I'm so Happy the SO bought it. We know have a 30lb kettlebell, the TRX (which is my fave) and the treadmill. I can effectively do my strength training and my cardio all in the same spot. Yeah baby!

In your opinion Imp, is the kettle ball is a good investment?

Yes! I love the kettle ball. You can do core exercises (sit-up etc) and various other exercises (arm, squats etc). I would have gone with a 20lb, but we bought it on a day when I was in better shape and we were both apparently feelin a little cocky about what we could handle.

Do you like that better than free weights?

I use free weights differently than I use the kettle ball. I like the kettle ball to add weight to my squats. I don't like using free weights for that. I like the free weights more when I'm focusing on my arms. It's easier to isolate a muscle group with the free weights than it is the kettle ball. I have the TRX for that so I can work my core and then isolate triceps, biceps etc.... When I'm at the gym I will use the kettle ball for adding weight to my sit-ups and squats and I use the free weights and the TRX. My husband likes the kettle ball much better than he does the free weights. He uses it more diversely than I do. However, our workout goals are different... Mine are to tone and lose my core.. His= primarily weight lifting.

Killer bad-ass workout today. I love that adrenaline rush from the burn of muscle fatigue, but its so hard to push myself when I'm wandering around the weight room on my own.

Today I had my partners back finally. S is back on a normal 24 on 48 off schedule and G is back from afghanistan and around more too. They are trying to kill me I think!!

Just to give an idea, S benches 500# for his WARM-UP set and G is a fucking energizer bunny and a beast in the weight room.

I was a bit stressed when I started, they were already warming up on the treadmill and I hopped on and my heartrate was at 116! Within a minute and a half of a slow jog it was at 185!! So since both of my workout partners are EMT's they were cussing at me to stop and checking to see how fast it was going down on its own. Once they were satisfied I was going to live they proceeded to kick my ass back and forth across the weight room.

Started with 5 sets of deadlifts, we compromised on weight, light day for them, heavy for me, so we didn't have to change the weight around between sets. 175# (S had already finished so it was me and G and a friend of his so it was more balanced actually...S was deadlifting 605# when I left the gym earlier)

Then wide grip lat pull downs. My last set was funny, they had to hold me into the seat because the weight was pulling me up. After that we did seated cable rows, heavy pullovers, and finished with reverse pullups. Even with three people rotating we kept up a massively fast pace. We took a break and then did some ab work.

A couple times I felt like I was going to black out but I guess if that had happened I was in pretty good hands.

My arms are shaking now. I think ill go collapse somewhere!

just started another thread under off topic discussion titled yay me.

Found out at the doctors today that i have lost just over half my body weight in 3 years! Currently still over 320 but still working on it!! Sorry for the fast reply but Daddy is taking me out to karaoke which is O/our favorite date night and i still have to get my hair under control....

Let me just say that even if its only 30 pounds find an Overeaters Anonymous group near you... They are the most amazing supportive people you will ever meet and the 12 steps really do apply to any addiction because mine is food. Food doesnt talk back it comforts me.. For a while. Then i feel bad for eating that entire tub of ice cream and eat a small pizza... Vicious cycle and it does exist!!!

No matter what gym you go to if someone sets up a bench with 5 45# plates, people will stop and watch. They want to see if you get it off the rack, then if you get it back up. It's always good to have a partner to lift with. You can go all out. I never go to complete failure on any lift I am holding weight on.

If every move you make ends in Oww. Then it was a good workout.
