Been snacking today but not as much as usual.

***Eta, snacking as in the 4-6 small meals a day.  Tonight I have kickball practice & beforehand I'll be walking the dog for a mile or 2***

Today I am going to attempt a 10-minute walk. If it works, I'll try to do it at least twice. I also need to get groceries, so I'll be walking around the grocery store. I read about y'all's workouts & try to remember that every journey begins with a single step.

When I buy groceries today, the focus will be on lean meats & veggies. I'm not fond of fruit except for berries & even then I sort of have to force myself to eat them. I also have to remember to eat carbs. My usual breakfast is a cup of greek yogurt with a portion of dry cereal in it. So I think that I get good carbs that way. I love Kashi U cereal & other good ones.

I'm trying to not take the pain pills. Since I found out that it's probably just arthritis, I want to push myself to go beyond the pain & get stronger. Exercise is the best thing for arthritis pain, in my experience. A huge component of pain is fear & now that I know that surgery is not indicated, I'm a whole lot less scared.

Typo's fixed (see bold print)
Lin, the Greek yogurt was listed as the best yogurt to eat. (Sorry, don't remember the source)
Kashi cereal too so you're eating the right foods, you just need to incorporate some activites to become that svelte lady you were just last year on the other thread

Yeah, I know about the activities. This is why I requested pain meds, so that I could push myself harder. Because the current level of my pain precludes doing much of anything. Stairs don't seem to hurt too much so I could walk up to Lushy's 10 times a day too.

My Dr tried to convince me that I could lose weight by simply cutting down on my calories, that exercise isn't that big a deal. I was good & didn't guffaw right out loud. Because I know that the main reason that I was able to lose that 50 lbs last year was my activity level. One really needs to do both. And she doesn't seem to believe me when I tell her about the kinds & amounts of food that I eat.

Well, I started my day by burning 81 calories (according to the calorie tracker I use) through cardio via my balance ball and Healthrider.  I was going to do a half-mile on the walking path at the park, but it was raining and we had tornado sirens going off most of the morning.  Then I had breakfast.  I never eat breakfast because my stomach rebels at putting food in it for the first hour or two after I wake up.  But I choked down an Instant Breakfast and didn't vomit so I count it as a win.  So far, so good.

Thankfully the storms haven't been so bad here, it had knocked the internet out for a bit though.

Got ultrasound done, though i had to wait an extra 45 mins with a full bladder because the tech' was late.

Went to the store and got a scale, and lots of fruit, grapes, and cherries and melons, and tomatos, and all this other stuff that grows out of the ground and i've been told is good for me.

I had a scrambled egg with onion, bell pepper, half a grass-fed sausage, and a slice of mild deli cheddar all ripped up in it, for my breakfast (about 90 mins. ago).
Did very well on my morning Wii routine, thought some more about Tae-bo, and sweated my proverbial ass off doing yard work.
Currently I am trying to resist the temptation to let the fluid out of this here palm blister, knowing very well I shouldn't do it.

Lin's Dr. is mildly full of horse puckey for implying that exercise is less important than food intake; they walk hand-in-hand, in my non-professional opinion which seems to be more or less supported by the health community. Someone pls tell Lin how proud I am of her, and of any one of you who keeps on in the face of physical adversity of any kind, serious or mild.

Radiant good health to each and every one of you..

So I insisted on going to the store without taking a pain pill, even tho Matt told me I should. About halfway through the shopping, I stopped my cart because I was in so much pain I was fantasizing about sticking up the pharmacy for one pain pill!! It put such a delightful little movie in my head that I laughed & pushed on. I did ask for help out to the car & wish that I had some here at home to bring it in from the car. *sigh* I needs me a boy very badly right now!

Ghita, that crossfit ROCKS, but in all honesty it kicked my ass when i tried to do it a couple times.  It killed my knees though -- ugh, i need to get my braces back.  But i get so tired feeling like i have artificial legs lol because of the braces i wear for my ankles and knees when i am fully "braced" up.  Unfortunately, due to my athletic career in HS and my growth spurt of 6 inches in a summer when i was 15, i don't think i will ever work out again without feeling pain to get through and over.  If its not the joints, its the muscles, if its not the mucles it's the back, if its not the back yadda yadda lol.  But you know, exercise is the only way to go when getting old lol.

FR
So i am back to cardio HIIT because i refuse to do cardio anymore for hours at a time until i stop procrastinating and re-sign up for a gym.  The place i am interested in has an salt water pool, an awesome aggression wall as well as the kickboxing "dummies."  So that will be fun.

For those interested, HIIT is an awesome way to get your body burning fat.  Its High Intensity Interval Training.  Today, i was lazy and did the eliptical for 20 minutes jumping up the speed and resistance ever 3 minutes for 30 seconds rather than every minute for a 30 seconds..

Today, breakfast was a 2 egg, 3 egg white omlet with feta cheese, tomatos, and spinach.
Snack was a Whey protein shake
Lunch was a Hamburger salad -- pretty much garden salad with different lettuce, black olives, pickles, and mayo and brown mustard for dressing with a hamburger made with general spices as seasoning and no breading within.  I added feta cheese.
Snack - Whey protein shake
Dinner will be a chicken stir fry -- chicken, zuchini, summer squash, peppers, with sesame seed oil and a splash of soy sauce.  All of this over roasted green beans (pretty much green beans seasoned with garlic and favorite spices and thrown in the oven for 10 minutes or so.

For those who are looking to buy on a budget, watch for sales on the frozen chicken breasts -- you can get 12-15 chicken breasts for sometimes $8-9, also buy frozen veggies rather than fresh.  Its not the ideal fresh but it gets the job done.  That's 12-15 meals for 10 bucks.  You can get frozen veggies many times for 1-2 dollars.  If you have a sam's card or costco, this can be even better.

Eggs also are great cheap foods.  I mean for $2, you can get 12 eggs sometimes 18 if you buy on sale.  Again, you may get repetative, but ...

Also, anyone who buys supplements puritanspride.com has a buy 1 get 2 or by 2 get 4 sale going on til June 16.

Awesome angel. Our gym has a HIIT class that I love. It could partially be that I'm in love with the instructor...but still...its a great class!

I went out to dinner tonight & was thinking about having a burger, which is what the place is known for, when the lovely man sitting next to me pointed out the salads. So I had a pecan & dried cherry on romaine salad with a drizzle of balsamic vinaigrette. Ok, I also had the side of mac n cheese which is their specialty & it was sooooooo worth it!!! I will walk 30 minutes tomorrow!!

When I was at the store, I bought mostly veggies & I did get some fruit that I like. I eat a banana each day for the potassium due to my taking Lasix. I also got strawberries, kiwis & a mango, which I will cut up & put into containers tomorrow. I will also cut up & put the veggies into a container for my salads. For meat, I got a pork loin roast, which I think I can cut into pork chops for frying like I did the one last night. I got some frozen sweet potato patties that I can fry up for a carb.

Tonight I talked with the man whose back problem is so much worse than mine & thanked him for reminding me of who I am. He's really a delightful man, with a wonderful sense of humor & most supportive.

Okay, can I join in on the fun too? Looks like some great ideas are being shared and I'd love to be part of it.

Wow SJ
It reminds me of some drawings I got way back from an Irish online friend....
He made them and posted to me, so I could comment on them.

I'll check if I have still any of them... but I fear the worst (being 10 years on)

Good Morning, All!

Nice job Lin!! I love how you laughed away the pain yesterday

Yesterday was very hot & muggy so after work I took my dog out for 50minutes the took him home & immediately went to a 90minute kickball practice.  Lots of sweating (not the perv kind) while sprinting to 1st base, shoulder work from throwing the ball, & running after the ball.  Tonight I'll be in the gym doing my strength training.
