No blackmail at all. She's warning the conventional GOP that the Tea Party is at risk of not playing along with them. She's not stating that she'll personally do anything.

Actually, I have a friend who owns his own PR firm and does sports promotion stuff like The Murray Bros golf clothing line and a few pro teams. But before that he held a post under a VP and still has very strong ties with the under the hood side of politics. And what I heard, not long before the home purchase in Az was that she was hitting up the GOP for campaign appearance bookings to draw a crowd for the various primary candidates and they zigzagged around the country. She got snubbed. Apparently the republican party leadership doesn't want her associated with the effort to take the white house in 2012. During that time she also conducted 6 weeks of focus groups in Az. I thought, that she was going to make a bid for the senate race in Az. But I am not even sure she can still legally get in the race at this point and in the closing weeks of her time in Az, she started preparing the bus tour. My friend commented that the word was she is embarrassing the money out of them by showing up close to whistle stops and taking their wind. And she did a masterful Job on Romney. The media people get entirely fascinated with the Gilligan-like vignettes she does for the camera. And the day after one of the presumed front runner announced, the candidate BARELY makes the regional news and his item is positioned WELL BEHIND Sarah's wacky antics.
Now, with these third party comments, her game becomes pretty clear. My guess is that since they do fear her in some fashion, there'll be a quiet payoff and a big public family reunion out on her bus tour where she is "SO GLAD candidate X spoke up about the issues us regular guys care about everyday, like availability of ammo" , or she just just fucking disappears, the decal gets peeled off the bus, and she writes another political book for field and stream.

The GOP has harnessed the energy of the Tea Party but not satisfied them. Pretty easy to have seen this coming

harnessed their energy? I really like that you get to say what I have been thinking all along without pissing them off when I say it in public. I can hardly wait for the annual LobstaLand fundraiser for scouts... I am going to use that one with this guy I know who is the ultimate 6 foot tall Jay Severin sock puppet.
Thanks

Oh forgot to answer your 2nd question. When I first read it it was on the page of that wacked out fringe non-news agency ABC:

http://blogs.abcnews.com/thenote/2011/06/sarah-palin-calls-non-candidacy-liberating-but-still-has-fire-in-the-belly/comments/page/2/

But now that I know it's an off the wall source, I dunno, maybe I should just do the cheap 'mescalines' and go with Fox.

Show me a cite on that one... Cause I just mailed a copy of it on paper so I'll have a sealed post-marked document proving I coined it, for use i the intellectual property suit when they finally come clean and use it.

I prefer "USEFUL IDIOTS", just like we used to call them in the old days...

sixstringbook -> RE: Sarah Palin Issues Tea Party Blackmail Threat to the GOP (6/5/2011 4:07:35 PM)

Unlike Obama ... who's ... um .... ah ... well ... A historical president!

Folks, this isn't about gop vs. dems, etc. This is about the electorate at large sick and tired of the Washington establishment governing plainly against the will of the people. Obama and Pelosi run a bigger deficit in a month than Dubya did in his last year, and now Boehner is quibbling about cutting maybe a few percentage points off the overall budget. It's gotta stop, and the reason people like Palin are wildly popular almost everywhere outside the political/media establishment is because she's among the few who people feel have the honesty and courage to actually tackle real problems in a meaningful way rather than continuing to reach ever deeper into people's pockets to buy a few votes and hope like hell the train doesn't derail on their watch.

Useful idiots was a term coined by communist kingpins often attributed to Lennon referring to the masses of people who helped them rise to power.     I'm more inclined to think it fits Obama supporters as apposed to Tea Party folks. After all they are closer associated philosophically.

pahunkboy -> RE: Sarah Palin Issues Tea Party Blackmail Threat to the GOP (6/5/2011 4:34:58 PM)

So the neocon party is going to divest from the neocon party=-  even while Obama is bush neocons 3rd term.

Am I missing anything?

Nowaday it refers to the fact that the Tea Party is nothing but a tool of the Corporations, and that the Useful Idiots are promoting the corporate agenda rather than their own agend ( by asking "Why hasn't Boehner moved any legislation forward to fix things?" and such... )

Yeah right......according to farglebargle maybe. I know how you guys sometimes like to change history to fit into your cozy little world view but I'm sickin with the facts, the term refers to commies.

quote:

In political jargon, the term useful idiot was used to describe Soviet sympathizers in Western countries. The implication is that though the person in question naïvely thinks themselves an ally of the Soviets or other ideologies, they are actually held in contempt by the Soviets, and were being cynically used. The term is now used more broadly to describe someone who is perceived to be manipulated by a political movement, terrorist group, hostile government, business, or other organization, whether or not the group is Communist in nature.
