ORIGINAL: Hippiekinkster I totally agree w/ you about C. De Gaulle. I'm going to third Charles De Gaulle as terrible. No signs for the gate numbers? Really? You have to wander around reading every sign board hoping to catch it at the right time and to find the one which actually pertains to your flight (that's if you are actually in the correct wing to start with and it really helps if you speak French - I don't.) I don't like Linnate.. too small & dirty and don't like Malpensa because it's so far, looooooooooong ass lines and costs an arm and a leg to get to Milan by cab but it is pretty easy to navi there. We never took a flight into Rome, but if you get the chance to bullet train from north to south, go first class.. it's just a few Euros more and the trip is soooooooooo worth it!) I can't remember the name of the airport in Switzerland, but it was charming and when we were there they had the craziest, coolest car show going on so we had something to do while waiting for our connecting. There is actually a very cool shuttle train to Malpensa, a lot more comfy than the bus option and faster, and you end up in the middle of the city and it's very close to the gates. Linate, Bergamo and Malpensa are all quite annoying, after they built them, they found out that they have a lot of turbulences (Bergamo slightly less) so delays are the order of the day. I think you must be talking about Zuerich airport in Switzerland, they usually have pretty cool shows going on and the airport has a nice lay out, easy to navigate, Geneva is a pain in the neck when it comes to the security checks, the Swizz take their security checks very seriously, but in Geneva cuing up is taken to a new level, and NEVER EVER use their phones with a credit card, they have a minimum charge there that's horrific (I think 15 Euros) so a phone call of 1 minute could cost you a fortune, even the charges for using your mobile abroad are cheaper! Basel airport is fine if you time your arrival or departure during less busy times, when it's busy they are so understaffed that you can stand an hour in the line, both airports are seriously small. I only planned to change flights at Bern airport and said I'd never ever use it again, each time the flights were diverted because it's a complete and utter fog hole... I have limited experience with Lugano airport (only used it for a school reunion - which was a waste of time anyway) and what a pain in the neck, they tell you the train station is a short walk away - well about 20 minutes and with luggage not so short, especially on a hot summer day, if I'd have known it I'd have grabbed a cab... But the staff at the airport was superb, security check was one of the fastest ever and they must have the nicest security people ever, they even help you out of the jacket like gents... Still, didn't make up for trekking in high heels and with luggage to the damned train station... I guess Switzerland has a few more airports but as I said, if I can I stick with Zuerich...
