You know what is really funny to ME? My parents had 6 kids and SUV's didn't exist. Neither did mini vans. Somehow, they managed.

Yes, but back then it wasn't against the law to have 5 kids in back and 2 in front. If you had a pickup, you could haul the whole baseball team.

I think we should reverse those laws.

Law of natural selection eh?

I remember my parents having a series of Rambler station wagons, flip the back of the back seat down and crammed us all in the back. It wasn't a big car. Then, for a while, when the only thing they had was an old pickup my grandfather gave them (extended cabs did not exist), they stuck a topper on the back, some blankets and pillows in the bed, and that is how we all got anywhere together. I seem to remember getting spewy from exhaust fumes on a trip to and from the State Fair.

mnottertail -> RE: GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes... (6/7/2011 10:48:17 AM)

You got to go to state fairs, you hoor?

LaTigresse -> RE: GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes... (6/7/2011 10:53:44 AM)

Yep. Once, it was a VERY big deal too. Took a picnic lunch and saw the butter cow and everything.

mike you have yet to live until you have been to at least 2 county fairs and a rodeo!....you need to get out more!

I time my summer vacation, so that I can go to the Pulaski county 4H fari in that major metro area, Winamac, Indiana, on the banks of the Tippecanoe river, nothing like it!

I get a huge breaded, deep fried, pork tenderloin!....Just too damn good!

Sheesh, around here you are nobody if you don't go to the county fair. I try to attend two a year. Funnel cakes and corn dogs, maybe a blooming onion, and you have had your fill of deep fried mystery ingredients for the year.

As for rodeos........the Tri-State Rodeo is a huge week long event. Used to trail ride down (took two days) and camp. Oh the things you would see....

slvemike4u -> RE: GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes... (6/7/2011 11:06:27 AM)

Country folk know nothing, nothing at all of culture.I repeat....fucking hicks!!!!!

Marc2b -> RE: GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes... (6/7/2011 11:08:27 AM)

As for this $1 a gal tax idea...

What a brilliant idea! Just at a time when lower income Americans are really hurting, let's dig into their meager budgets all the more! I mean, its not like poor people have anywhere to go... right?

Come on mike, you can stay at my place up on the river and we'll float fish down to the park, eat some greasy stuff, look at the livestock and if we can get past the livestock from town, we can go to the barns and see the animals!
It is FUN!

mnottertail -> RE: GM chief pushing for higher gas taxes... (6/7/2011 11:11:07 AM)

Just as long as we don't raise the taxes on the top two percentile....the way to close the budget deficit is obvious to all good Repubs.....slash services to those very same lower income Americans you reference.
