Conservatives, Does this not feel.... sleazy at all? Is this really the sort of mindset that we need in our politics right now? The astonishing thing is that Breitbart seems to have really convinced himself that he was simply defending himself by releasing more photos. Cuz, y'know, FUCK Weiner's family.

It's like if the Steelers were playing the Patriots in football, and the Steeler's coach sends an anonymous tip to the police about the marijuana in the traveling bag of the Patriot quarterback and he gets busted, therefore unable to play. Sure, he shouldn't have had the weed in his bag, but is that really how the Superbowl should be won? By hindering the other team's ability to play?

Now, republicans are calling for Anthony Weiner to resign and going after his campaign donors to sever ties:

Does anyone think for a moment that this is anything other than politically motivated? Doesn't this look like a coordinated effort to exploit turmoil (that Breitbart had a direct hand in) for the purposes of political gain? Anthony Weiner makes his living arguing his case with other congressman, and now he may go down for reasons that have nothing to do with his job.

I've never thought of myself as one to have a deep patriotic streak, but I think that Breitbart and his methods are positively poisonous for our country. And I know this is going to sound really partisan, but these methods I've seen mostly on the Right. (Though mostly from Brietbart and O'Keefe directly, to be fair.) I didn't see this outrage from the Left when Arnold was caught in a situation that actually involved him sticking his dick in someone.

Give it a week, with not too many people paying him mind. He'll figure out yet another way to remind us all that "he's got the pictures".

Anthony Wiener is being hounded, over something as erotic as this: http://imgur.com/iEXMu , because he's been drawing attention to Clarance Thomas' 'forgetting about' $650,000.00 in cash from people who had business in front of his court.

Thomas is the one who should be called to resign... Clarance Thomas has, with his actions, destroyed the integrity of the US Supreme Court...

Just like Eliot Spitzer was destroyed because he was warning us about Hank Greenberg and AIG before they imploded and destroyed the economy.

What you're talking about was just a side point, but since you asked...

by "Democrats" you mean "Pelosi." I don't see how that's relevant to this case, they're just going through the motions of trying to show everyone "We're doing the right thing! See?" It was the SAME bullshit that got Shirley Sherrod fired.

And the point that I was making with Arnold is that there is a precedent set very recently of a politician going much farther texts and pictures, and that the lack of outrage by the very same people shows that this is mostly political in nature.

This is very important because Congressman Wiener is a very good speaker and a strong voice for the middle class, and we might lose him.

Status: offline 		As a public figure Breitbart has limited opportunity to defend Weiner's slanderous accuasations. Maintaining leverage over continued attacks doesnt feel sleazy at all. And no, I dont think its politcally motivated, I think everything Breitbart does is financially motivated. And yes, your observation is highly partisan. Dirty tricks arent the province of Republicans/conservatives only.

And you didnt see outrage from the Left over AS, because he's PART of the left. Tax increases, weak on immigration, crippling environmental regulations, reducing the sentence of his Democrat buddy's murderous son and so on.

No...I don't see your point.  I want to know why Nixon was so bad.  The Watergate Scandal?  Is that it?  The President that ended the war in Nam, opened up relations with China, furthered civil rights, created the EPA (which may continue to prove to be a huge mistake), what made him so bad?  Is the Watergate Scandal all you got?  You know, there are books comparing Clinton's Whitehouse to Nixon's and Nixon looks pretty good if only by comparison.

Also, if you are talking about affairs, please tell me the affairs or other lewd behavior engaged in by Truman or Dwight or Nixon or Ford or Carter or Reagan or HW Bush or W. Bush....or Obama, for that matter.  We elect scumbags and then we defend them for no better reason than they advance our political agenda.
