For God's sake let them go.

It would be a great lesson for the US if they did. Texas is the only state to show economic growth and is responsbile for something on the order of 1/3 of all private sector jobs created since the recession began.

Texas GDP

I see 2% growth 2008
-1.5% reduction in 2009 The latest figures I could find.

Plus, almost all of the growth if there was that much in GDP and employment, is in oil, not because of any superior govt. policies. Plus Texas will NEVER secede because they are in the top 10 states (all red BTW) who are on the federal tit, i.e.,...receiving more federal govt. money than [it] sends to Wash., part of which is farm and dairy subsidies...that would end.

I love here red (repub) states that are on the dole...and here's one talking about limited govt., taxes and seceding. Now that's hutzpa.

.

I thought texas jobs were down to accepting stimulus money, even tho he said he wouldnt?
California is second in the list of job creation with 194000. isnt that a dem state?

Let's see how that works when they're responsible for their own defense and security budgets.

Tell it to Canada. Give them back the 12% of their tax money that the US government spends outside of TX, put it on the borders that the US government isnt adequately defending (and lies that things are improving), and they will be a helluva lot better off than the rest of the country.

...but then the Texan govt. would have to deal with all of those Mexican and American immigrants. Ya know...com'n in and tak'n all of those jobs 'Texans don't want to do' forcing all of those wages down. She'd be all on her own too.

Brain -> RE: What's wrong with Mitt Romney? (6/11/2011 6:51:43 PM)

No, you want a moron Republican who will prove government doesn't work. Another George Bush so the country will become insolvent.

Unemployment is going up because Republicans demand cuts in government spending. It’s the wrong time to cut government spending because we are going to have another recession. Another egregious economic Republican demand is more tax cuts for the rich which do nothing to stimulate the economy. And Obama has proven his intellectual superiority not only by what he has written but also by a comprehensive grasp of politics.

He's too educated.
I don't want what they call, "the best and the brightest" in the White House, I want "a man or woman of the people."
The best and the brightest usually aren't. Just look at Oblunder, "a brilliant legal scholor" who only wrote one paper that they could find, something about children being able to sue their dead parent's estates!" Sheesh!
We're in the second half of his third year and unemployment is going up! And the economy sucks! And he wants a "free trade" program with S. Korea?
We'll be calling him "Barak Herbert Hoover Obama" pretty soon.
That's the "best and the brightest" for you!

NeedToUseYou -> RE: What's wrong with Mitt Romney? (6/11/2011 8:18:05 PM)

I won't vote for Romney, because he's war crazy. I watched the republican side of the election very closely, and Mitt Romney's ad's were very much based on the notion of "terrorism" around every corner, rhetoric.

I don't want another shoot first look later president, or one that blows the terrrorism threat out of proportion to the detriment of the nations economy.

We already have had two war obsessed presidents in a row now. We get another, after all a large reason we are broke is directly the result of the Department of "offensive".

I assume a large section of the population is tired of attacking pakistan, libya, syria, iraq, afghanistan, etc... If not elect him.

Why put a guy in there that thinks this situation is perfectly fine.

http://youtu.be/v-dejS5JPPk

or here, he shows his love for guatanomo (spelling) and "enhanced interrogation techniques" or more commonly known as "torture".

Thing is, most what you have that Romney would do...is what he would be told to do. The 'War on Terror' is to last forever it being such a great profit center. He can even start a hot one like Bush the neocon in Iraq or like Obama...the neoliberal in Afghan. and Lybia. One begins to see a pattern here....or they are blind. Presidents are mere puppets I tell you, the only differences are around petty little things that will change only so far as they are allowed to change and most will not matter.

To answer your previous question I did mean Romneycare, thanks Wilb... You're wrong about Perry, he never said what you're saying he said.

Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

Your source, which is crap btw.

It wasnt my source, it was the OPs Oleblowhard link. Watch it. As usual for KO, Perry didnt say what KO claims he did.

I know, I was thanking you for responding for me, and calling her source garbage.

They don't need them, they already have Chuck Norris and the Texas Rangers.

Brain -> RE: What's wrong with Mitt Romney? (6/11/2011 10:42:18 PM)

Since Mitt Romney once again appears to be a front runner in the Republican primary can we please start referring to him as Mittens?

Brain -> RE: What's wrong with Mitt Romney? (6/11/2011 11:45:59 PM)

Which candidate do you support for the Republican nomination?

Mitt doesn't capture my imagination, and he just oozes that insincere, creepy politician vibe. I don't think he has the charisma and passion that will be needed to send President Obama back to Chicago.

If either of you had bothered to click on the link you would have seen the source was Nico Pitney. How you derived Keith Olberman baffles me.

It'd be cheaper. They'd only have to worry about their piece of the Mexican border and a small "Naval" service for the gulf.
They probably wouldn't have any armed incursions from N.M. Ok. Ar. or La.
