Prickly pear in Israel, kids sell them from plantings outside the house the way they set up lemonade stands here.

There's a good size Hispanic population here around Little Rock so we have several "taco trucks" that park around town, esp. in the southwest area of town. Authentic Mexican food - de-lic-ous

Status: offline 		There's something wonderful about food from a cart.  One of the things I miss about Philly - breakfast carts.  I'd get an egg and cheese sandwich (this was before my lactose intolerance got bad)... lots of pepper and on a subway roll.  What were they?  Two bucks?  Best breakfast in town!

Here in Korea they have all manner of street food - some of it good, some of it bondaeggi.  But what I love are these little bread things that have spicy cinnamon and some kind of nut inside them.  Invariably, I burn my hand when some of the goo drips out, but ohhhhhhhhhhh so worth it!

I miss the stuff from back home.  Funny thing, when I go back, I usually don't get the stuff I miss... I just like knowing it's there.

Best ever were some chicken tamales with Mole Amarillo steamed in fresh (not dried) corn husks I bought out of a bucket from a little old Zapotec woman at the Mercado de Abastos in Oaxaca, Mexico. Just amazing. I could live on those.

Awww, I missed those. If I'm ever back in Berlin, I'll keep an eye out. One of my favorite cities. I obtained a copy of my granny's birth certificate from the Charlottenburg City Hall when I was there in 2003. It's an intense city. And the public transport system is killer. They still had streetcars in the eastern part of the cicy. My favorite restaurant is in Prenzlauer-Berg, run by an old queen who got to meet some of the big names when he was a waiter there before Die Wende.

Was the end of the season for Pfifferlingen (Chanterelles), so I of course had to have those. There was a street-cart at the end of the Marienplatz in Munich that was selling them too, at that time. 5 Euros for 500gm. Gawd, I was in heaven!

I am really starting to go on and on in my dotage. Nostalgia...

Empanadas de platano verde with cheese and scallion filling or a ground beef filling.

We used to get ten pound boxes of frozen shrimp and made endless amounts of ceviche. I miss those boxes.

Status: offline 		Fae - ah yes... they do.  I actually don't eat them because I'm nervous about food poisoning.  I got a badddddddddd case of it in Peru after eating anticucho ... I rarely eat meat from vendors abroad - but bready things?  You betcha!

Status: offline 		When  I lived in the Orlando area in the 90's there was an old black gentleman who had a  mobile bbq shack.  He used to set it up on the weekends on the trail.  I would drive all the way across Orlando to buy ribs from him.

Status: offline 		There is nothing like a good Chicago hotdog stand or my favorite --the old icecream trucks.  Remember those, before the ones that only sell packaged icecream now?  When that song started playing, the kids all started running.

My favorite was the dipped icecream cones.
