I think there are true submissives, nope cant say I'm offended by the word "true* or "real" in any way. What it means to me is a description of a personality that actually submits. In that light, there are "pretenders" perhaps people who just play the game of submission and have never really touched its essence...so there :P i dont wanna join your club hehe (laughing)

~ chuckles ~ I'm with you, jali.  As I said in the other thread, there are submissives who are true to themselves as submissive - therefore genuine and sincere, submitting from the heart.  And then there are those who play the game.

Again, keep in mind that terms mean different things to different people. Mine meet my needs and beliefs, and there are those that don't like that. What they don't realize, or care about, is that does not mean I see them as fakes, or not real. It doesn't mean that I dislike them, or don't respect them, or want them in my life.

Of course when someone uses the terms "true" or "real" what they really mean is that you believe exactly as they do. That their version of the right way to be a sub or Dom or whatever is universal and absolute. If you don't then you're a fake. It's the same premise that humans have used to create hundreds of offshoot religions over the millenia.

essence is hard to describe too.  that's another thing i've always wondered.  it's kind of confusing but try it anyway:

when i used to ask people, "what does being in love like?" when i was a little girl, they always said, "you just know."

what if no one "just knows" and they're just feeling what they think everyone else is feeling but then no one's really feeling anything and it's all a trick?  what if "the essence of submission" is like that? 

that would be horrible and sad...on both counts.  i won't believe it.

but, what if you feel the "essence of submission" without realizing it?  how do you get there?  what taxi do you take?  maybe the "essence of submission" is like this thing i remember reading about in school.  something about how the American Dream is so wonderful and big, that we'll never be able to reach it.  i could've sworn there was a famous book on the subject.  the characters in the story had made up this big fantasy of what BLANK was going to be like and then they could never get there.  they were so full of expectations, they just kept waiting and waiting and couldn't be happy no matter what they did. 

so...anyone follow that at all?

Yes, some use their realness as a bludgeon against those "less" than them. If something is true and right for you and yours, that is fine..... but when you use it as a ladder to stand above everyone else and piss down on them.....

Hmm lol..... the first part, if you mean there really isn't true love nor true submission, yes, that would be terrible, and no, I don't buy it either. They're real. And true lol.
