This is probably as close to 'protocol' as the entire thread has been, even though it's more like common courtesy.
I don't have a problem with people doing their own thing, either. I will say that I think it's rather reasonable that if a person has something on their profile that they are not interested in or even go so far as to state it is a hard limit of theirs, it's in really poor taste to send them <cough> offers <cough> for that kink.
