People here in Mexico were pretty excited by Perry's call to secede. They see the irony that would occur with Texas first seceding and then in a generation being majority Hispanic which would likely lead to Texas rejoining Mexico. The irony is that's how Texas became a part of the US... it was overloaded with illegal immigrants from the north who pushed for and got a revolution followed by them joining the union.

Maybe if Perry becomes President he'll give Mexico back all of the western states that the US stole from Mexico.... that'd be fun to watch.

They were not illegal immigrants Mexico gave them land grants to move to Texas.  They supported Santa Anna's rise because of the constitution he promised and turned against him when he turn into a dictator.

Rick Perry only wants the power and influence. He has shown he truly hates America when he mentioned that Texas could secceed. Same goes for the wicked witch from Alaska. How can even right wingers who clainm to love this country support seccessionists?

It is pretty easy to support people who want to secede from the union.  The union was created to advance certain principals.  If the country has deviated from a government of limited power and state's rights to some socialist regime where people have to buy products they neither want nor need, why not secede?  The country is the sum of the ideals on which it was founded.  If it abandons those ideals, it is no longer the same country.

The good news is that you as a citizen, rather than an actual state....need not even secede....all you need is your passport...a country silly enough to allow you in ,and an airplane ticket.
Let us know when you are leaving we will have,er I mean throw you a party.

Right...we should all be loser socialists that need a hand out because we are failures at the game of life, right SlaveMike?  Rather than turn a perfectly prosperous country into a welfare state to support losers, union members and government employees, why don't such failures who do not want to contribute to their pensions and health care plans charter a very large boat, go about 50 miles off shore and sink it so we can all get back on track?   :) :) :) :) :)

I'm not coming here and advocating secession though...that was you, wasn't it?
So all I did was try to support you in your desire to leave this country...and you get all snarky with me....typical right wing graditude .

There is nothing wrong with advocating for secession.  Try re-reading my post again.  I know it had some big words that are a bit much for any liberal.  The point is that if you want to live in a bastion of socialism, you should move to one.  Then you can beseech that government for your hand out.

Conversely the point is also that if you feel that this country is becoming some sort of socialist bastion...you,as a rightwing nut...just might feel more comfortable in a country that is more in line with your far rightwingnut views.
All I am doing is pointing out your choices....after all this is still a free country ....and you have the right,in fact I implore you,to leave at any time you so choose.
Please do exercise your right

Actually i think the Civil War answered the question of states' rights. The Constitution also states that federal law always trumps state laws when they are different...it is why California and other states that have passed medical marijuana laws have so many problems with the DEA closing down dispensaries, prosecuting state licensed growers/dealers, etc. It is also why so many people who are against gay marriage are pushing for a Constitutional amendment stating that marriage is between a man and a women--such an amendment would disallow any state from passing laws allowing gay marriage. And to them i say that my gay son has the same rights to find happiness through marriage as my straight daughter has.

No matter what Beck tells you this country was not founded by the Ayn Rand fan club.

As to your so subtle complaint about the ACA, everyone does need health insurance. The way to keep premiums low and cover the most people, if we absolutely must have a private system, is for everyone to buy insurance and spread out the liabilities. People without insurance are the ones who show up at ER's after letting minor problems get bad which ultimately costs everyone a lot more.

I have to agree. The mishandling of that case was criminal on many counts, but the final decision and responsibility was Perry's.

Quote from the article:
Unfortunately, the American people have been dead asleep and have been sending incompetents, con men and charlatans to Washington D.C. for decades.

All i can say is that it is what we have done in Europe for decades as well. So welcome to the club

No, the point is you really don't have a clue what a big word like socialism means, you just parrot the the junk that is spit out by Fox News, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and the other conservative evangelists that make their money preying on your paranoia.
