I think as the OP gets older, he will realise that people are preoccupied with their own lives and concerns. Other peoples lives may impact marginally on them, but just marginally. I can't imagine any of my neighbours caring about what I do enough to even google a flogger or a collar. If you live your live with a modicum of discretion, I think you will find that no-one will turn a head at you.
