Am I going to lose kool points, for admitting I've listened to the Beach Boys? LOL

Back to NuevaVida's uplifting songs: "House of Pain's Jump Around." http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DwQbPgouUYo.

it's a tricky one for me simply because it will depend on why i'm down. if it's just one of those days where the world being full with just one other person than me is too much than i'll get all punk/goth on its arse....so killing joke, the mission or something like that. if i'm emotionaly upset and need to cry then 'i'm not in love' by 10cc will do it everytime. it's a bitter sweet song for me.

if i'm angry then it has to be loud and a bit shouty. when i split from my ex i was given a load of stuff by Sevendust. on the album seasons is this song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfI3EYA4IF4 and i found i played it alot at very high volume (strangely i've just played it and thought of Hannah.......can't think why lol). it's just so angry and emotional. i gave the cd to my ex with the instructions to play it at volume i got one on my one day and decorated my living room while playing the album. it was very loud and the windows were open. my son said he could hear it before he got to the drive. i felt great.

I call this one my "Instant Happiness song"

I have 3 or 4 versions of that song on my pc.

And this one reminds me of all bad times and how good I'm doin now!!

Actually I can express all my moods in music........ but it has to be right, music, lyrics and ME :)

"take on me" by aha will turn me around almost 100%. another one is "forever young" by rod stewart
there are a couple of other ones, but "take on me" is pretty much a guarantee. oddly enough, i don't actually have it in my possession, so i look it up on youtube when i remember to. =p

i also can't stand too much super upbeat music when i'm sad; it seems inappropriate and makes me MORE sad. =p but "take on me" has been a favorite since i was REALLY young.

I like the Beach Boys!! LOL  "God Only Knows" is my favorite of theirs.  It reminds me of a Wonder Years episode where it was played.

The photography in that video is beautiful.

I'm like you, in that music reflects my moods.  Also, if I'm in an irritable mood, lots of songs suddenly seriously irritate the crap out of me - particularly dancy or doo-wop'ish stuff.

Sometimes, when you need a pick me up, the first thing you need to do is pass through the negative feelings by acknowledging them.

If I am feeling put upon by the obtuseness and callousness of the world I listen to “Comfortably Numb,” by Pink Floyd.

“I can’t explain, you would not understand, this is not how I am…” Since yelling that from the rooftops or screaming it at random strangers on the street would probably get me arrested and thrown into the loony bin… I listen to “Comfortably Numb,” and, for a little while, know that I am not alone.

If I am feeling maudlin about lost loves or departed friends, “Red, Red, Wine” by Neil Diamond or “Taxi Driver,” by Harry Chapin is good. “Late September Dogs,” by Melissa Etheridge and “Somewhere Down the Crazy River,” by Robbie Robertson are also good.

If I am feeling lonely, then I just gotta listen to “Heaven Help the Lonely” by Willie Nile.

There are many other songs for other bad moods that I’m sure I’m just not thinking of at the moment. Anyway, once I’ve taken myself through the negativity… then it’s time for the pick me up.

There are a number of songs that do a good job, amongst them:

The Middle,” by Jimmy Eat World.

Alive and Kicking,” by Simple Minds.

Whats Up,” by Four Non-Blondes.

Tarzan Boy,” by Baltimora (this tune is also great for when you’re in the woods and are getting ready to go primal on your sub ).

Come on Eileen,” by Dexy’s Midnight Runners (it is impossible to listen to this song and NOT dance that happy jig).

"Soolaimon,” by Neil Diamond (really makes you feel like you’re one with the world, “Be,” is also good for that).

If all else fails then I bring out the big guns and listen to THIS (I defy any one to listen and not be in a happy mood afterward).

I now really really really hate you   I just had forgotten that tune.....

If ever I am irritated or something and my regular listen to songs is not going to work, I always play evergreens... Like Otis Redding, Neil Diamond, Percy Sledge and so on.
Then I feel a lot less moody

Thankfully no one has listed "Come On Get Happy" (yet lol)

Although I attend theater fairly often I've never seen Les Miserables. I looks good though. Maybe it'll come to Stratford (Ontario) one year.
