I have stated before I had hoped for a strong republican candidate I could get behind.... and he or she isnt stepping forward.

What about Huntsman? I know nearly nothing about him but he seems more moderate than most, from the very little I've read.

He's too moderate, imo. Plus he has the taint of working in the Obama Administration.

That pisses me off. He's worked under two Republican Presidents and Obama. And the fact that he actually is capable of doing his best in a job under bipartisan conditions is a dealbreaker.

Why is nobody caring about the obvious - that he's ambassador to the country that is pirating our intellectual property and manufacturing cheap knockoffs and in some cases counterfeit goods?

Thats not what the dealbreaker is. The dealbreaker is he's too fucking "moderate". His position on health care reform and the individual mandate anlone is more than enough to disqualify him as a conservative. Moderate Republicans don't win elections unless they lie and govern to the left of their campaigns. He doesnt even have the political sense to lie.

Only to the bigots and honestly, who cares what they think.

Huntsman will never make it through the nomination proccess...for the very reasons Willbur mentioned....too moderate(heaven forbid the Repubs nominate someone actually electable)and he had the audacity to accept a position in the administration of a Democrat..thereby cementing the charge of too moderate.
The base of the Republican Party is not interested in anyone who has evidenced qualities that suggest they could actually work with Democrats. They are seeking a hardliner who maintains purity of message...even if that means he/she is preordained to lose the general.Holding on to that purity is worth more than gaining the office....by doing so they position themselves to be the party on the outside that can decry all of the tough times ahead as we crawl out of this recession and try to get the country back on track.Their interest in American success is secondary at best.....Ideology is at the top of the list and influences everything.

Don't waste your time tazzy....he hasn't a chance. The Republicans are dead set on nominating an unelectable....they are so rigid ideologically speaking that losing is preferrable than having a candidate that just might espouse some positions that Obama and the Dems can actually work with.Their worst nightmare is to have their standard bearer stake out some moderate positions....and yet still lose....those positions would than bite them in the ass post election.
They will not take such a chance.
