In my world, if you make claims like that without releasing the source of those claims, people laugh at you...

but in your world someone can claim any damn thing and you think that it is up to us to prove him wrong..

Wow, you have some twisted logic there.

the world of scientific review is much different with different requirements than people functioning as news providers.

nothing twisted about it

LOL

He isnt the only one, look at Palin and how hard some will defend her.

Cult of personality...

And yet fluoride free toothpaste has been around for some time.

Real0ne -> RE: Alex Jones Creates Hysteria Amongst His Readers/Listeners (6/25/2011 4:16:34 PM)

there is a lot to be said about alaskans from murkoski admitting that the give is a trust to the people having their own militia.

something really down to earth about that.

Let me tell you something that you learn in journalism school... if you make a mistake you are supposed to print a retraction. Has Alex Jones ever retracted one fucking thing? He makes "mistakes" (and I say that generously) often, yet never retracts ANYTHING. Even the NY Times retracts stuff.

Another thing you learn in Journalism School is that you have anonymous sources and official sources. If your sources are official, or they are in grey papers, you are supposed to reference those... In other words, if he has papers from the government, why hasn't he published those?

Greg Palast, for example, will put up original documents in his reports... he will post them, which is what good investigative journalists do. Alex Jones is not a journalist.

Real0ne -> RE: Alex Jones Creates Hysteria Amongst His Readers/Listeners (6/25/2011 4:19:16 PM)

yeh older kids will unwittingly feed it to younger kids... when mom and dad arent home...

seriously if you want to see an abortion check out what they did to burzinski with his non toxic cancer treatments.

I will see if I still have the link

tazzygirl -> RE: Alex Jones Creates Hysteria Amongst His Readers/Listeners (6/25/2011 4:23:09 PM)

I know about him and his "cure". The problem was they could never duplicate his findings.

Like I said I dont frequent his work because I do not like the drama.  I did however watch adask since his work rocks and aj had him on his show.

I think most people wind up there looking up or researching other people as aj tends to have many really good guests.

In practice about the only time you wil ever see a retraction is if they slandered someone and face potential law suit.

thats typical gubmint 1/.2 truth

they did not give the proper dosages and then claim it did not work then stole his patents while claiming and siting his work, the very work they condenmed!

the national cancer institute both had the documentation and admitted in court that it worked!

The fda are the assholes here.

Termyn8or -> RE: Alex Jones Creates Hysteria Amongst His Readers/Listeners (6/25/2011 4:29:54 PM)

"Like I said earlier, he posts links to other conspiracy sites to build his stories, and then you hit those sites and they have built their stories on still other whacko sites... "

Now don't take this wrong because I am really not taking sides here. But do you realize that by saying that you give rise to the possibility that he himself is misinformed and thus possibly hasn't lied at all ?

To lie, one has to be aware that they are not telling the truth correct ?

By not taking sides I mean that I say no source can be 100% accurate.

As far as Jones capitalising on sensationalism, I am absolutely sure of it, but there is alot of that going around. Sometimes he sounds like Rush Limbaugh with a much better drug dealer. Even without lies, emphasis and deemphasis can go a long way in slanting a story. I avoid used textbooks like the plague because people use those damn yellow hiliters. If the author intended emphasis, he would have used bold or italic type. If the reader knows more than the author, why bother reading ? They wreck the damn thing. Same shit here.

And when you finally follow those moldy bread crumbs you find out that the original sources didn't say what he claims at all[8|]

JO, I'm shocked at you. Your suggestion requires intellectual effort, thought and analysis by the reader. That's simply out of the question here. People who listen to the likes of Alex Jones don't do intellectual effort, thought and analysis. The Alex Jones'es of this world are designed to specifically appeal to people to who like to avoid intellectual effort, thought and analysis. It's a media product for a brain-free or brain-dead demographic.

Such people just know things to be true. How do they know? Alex told 'em so. What more evidence could any one possibly need? No further intellectual effort, thought or analysis required.

"thats typical gubmint 1/.2 truth "

Not engaging here, just pointing out a technical thing - got math ? That indicates a quintuple truth.

We know better than that, "they" have to say things more than five times to have it become the truth.

Alex Jones said that chemicals were "encouraging" homosexuality, which means that chemicals made people gay, which means that by putting chemicals into our environment by the government created gay people that would not otherwise be so

It is not hard to understand....

I put fertilizer on the ground, I do so to encourage plants to grow, the plants grow and this means i have created a garden... same as the "government encouraged gay people... which Alex Jones said..

Now, you can split hairs over semantics all you want. I am done with your crazy talk

Isn't it interesting that in the last few years there ARE THOUSANDS more gays then were before?

Are there? Or are more just coming out as society slowly but surely becomes more tolerant?

There are just more people out of the closet... or did that ever cross your mind[8|]

Termyn8or -> RE: Alex Jones Creates Hysteria Amongst His Readers/Listeners (6/25/2011 4:39:17 PM)

You too Hunky. Let's get real. If the number of openly gay people are to be trusted one must assume that the number of gays coming out of the closet is equal to the number going back into the closet.

the defense was over the second I posted way back on page 3 or 4, the rest of the posts were simply watching the titanic slowly sink.

here is a 90 minute well deserved gubmint ass pounding where they indicted this guy 5 times THEY LOST and it even drew the attention of a congressional hearing into the matter for harrassment.

Dont invent anything that will help society without poisoning them along the way or they will try and break your ass.
