Status: offline 		We've been tossing a lot of fucks around lately, thanks to Hannah's foresight in realizing that with her gone on vacation, we would be virtually fuckless. Let's face it, fuck is the single most versatile word in the English language!!

What do you think of the word fuck? Do you use it? Often or only on rare occasion?

Does it offend you when someone else uses it?

Do you agree that's it's the most versatile word in our language? If not, let us know what (in your opinion) is.

Can you think of other uses for the word fuck other than the ones listed on the website below?

The acronym RTFN (right the Fuck NOW) that's a step up from ASAP

Fuckin' A! 80's stoner expression of agreement (not that I would have a clue about it's rl usage)

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK The longest swear word in the world (used only in the Southern US).

The previous word's counterpart FOCK!! (Northeastern US)

Not sure how I came across this usage, it would have nothing, nothing to do with it being Friday and me fucking off.

Nothing.

Both of which I'm sure were being utilized by :


Dorothy Parker is said to have sent a telegraph in reply to her editor - who was bugging her for belated work while on her honeymoon - that read: "Too fucking busy, and vice versa"

A fuck shaped balloon danced over the treetops.
A small boat floundered on the fuck colored sea.

To show possession:
Fucker's is the green one on the corner.

As an adverb:
Those fuckfully spoken words would haunt him for days.
He patted her cheek fuckingly, and left.

As a number:
How many did i make? A fuck-load.

a) It is not 'our' language; you're from over there somewhere.

b) Out of the kindness of our hearts, we have offered up this rich and diverse language, although I'm not so sure you're worthy recipients: you're far too rule orientated to manage such a flexible language, which is why you write decent English yet lack any sort of creativity with the language (the German language would have been a fit). Regardless, it is a loan at the very best.

c) In terms of the versatility of 'fuck', I have absolutely no opinion on the matter.

Its first known use as a verb meaning to have sexual intercourse is in "Flen flyys", written around 1475:
"They [the friars] are not in heaven since they fuck the wives of Ely."

William Dunbars 1503 poem "Brash of Wowing" includes the lines:
"Yit be his feiris he wald have fukkit/Ye brek my hairt, my bony ane"
(II. 13-14)

John Florio's 1598 Italian-English dictionary, A Worlde of Wordes, included the term, along with several now-archaic, but then vulgar synonyms, in this definition:
Fottere: to jape, to sard, to fucke, to swive, to occupy.

"Fuck" can be used as a verb, adverb, adjective, interjection, noun, and can logically be used as virtually any word in a sentence (e.g., "Fuck the fucking fuckers.") Moreover, it is one of the few words in the English language that can be applied as an infix (e.g., "Absofuckinglutely!").

No you fucking got it! That is the Python vid.....you just have to watch a very brief (half second) moment at the end of it when the credits show up to see the Python credits

This was originally just an audio on one of their albums from (I think) the 70's
