I'm shooting my first wedding on Friday! I have a photography business and finally booked my first wedding. All my gear is good to go. Tons of memory cards and batteries. Shorey's camera is the same as mine so I even have a top notch backup. The lenses I need to use are incredibly expensive.... so I opted for renting them. They are soo badass it's not even funny. It's gonna be hard to ship them back because I want to keep them. Just need some words of encouragement to keep the nerves down. Ugh.

I admit it...I'm now sufferring from camera envy. Oh, wrong thread. [&:] If the photos you've posted here in the past are any indication of your work, you've got nothing to be worried about. Good luck and have fun.

way to fucking go!! focus on the excitement and turn your back on the fucking nervousness. when the nerves act up, just fucking ask yourself this question: do i know what the fuck i'm doing? that should take care of the fucking nervousness.

In the future you will look back and know that you would have done something different, if you had known then what you know now. BUT, your clients will not have a clue. Photo shop CS5 can do awesome shit (which you already know) Take a bazillionmore photos than you think you need to (which you already know) and maybe, something I learned the hard way due to my less than wonderful eyes and small camera screens....I take my laptop along for the important posed shots so I can get a REALLY good look at them before sending everyone on their way. And something else you already know I am sure.......the ones you don't think much about will be the most awesome ones! Don't sell yourself short. You've got the most important ingredient that money cannot buy.......the eye. Please let me see the results so I can ogle your superstar work. If it's all cool with Shorey I can give you some alternative contact info cuz I really love seeing your stuff.

Heh...yeah. I have to remember to just have fun. I'm shooting the wedding for free, but know I can't think of it like that. I want to give these two people incredible images. It's a second marriage for both of them and it's a laid back wedding so that's helping me mentally. Shorey said he'd be more worried if I wasn't nervous. I agree with him on that. He said I'll do just fine. LaT...the lenses are sooooo sweet. Just amazing. And super fast. I never thought I'd like a lens more than my 50mm f1.4 (which is my incredible go to lens.), but the few days I've been shooting with these two new ones have given me lens envy. Anyone wanna buy them for me???? My camera now weighs about ten pounds with the big 70-200mm and the speedlight on it. I might just loose some weight by time the night is over.

I understand the nerves. I did a corporate photo thing not long ago. I was a basket case up until just the day before. Then I knew I was going to be fine and if not there was nothing more I could do at that point. I think if I hadn't known the people, I would have been less nervous but I felt like I had something to prove to the dick that owns the company. I did and I did. Now tell me what these lovely lense treasures are exactly........I've been saving for something new.

Shorey just gave me another pep talk. Feeling a little better now. Greedy...I shoot with a Nikon D300. Shorey has the same camera. Both cameras are fitted and ready to go. LaT...the lenses are super fast (focus) and the lower f stop on them means you can shoot in lower light situations without having to up your iso. I rented a speedlight too and am learning to get comfortable with it since I generally only shoot with ambient light sources. That was not an option for a wedding since it's a lot of interior shots. I'm loving the way I can bounce the light off of the ceiling or behind me. BTW...you have mail. I'm going to the church and reception hall tonight to do some test shots. Hopefully that will take care of all of the nerves...

I'm also refusing to look at other wedding photographers portfolios at this point. I need to shoot this how I see it, not how another photographer would shoot. I have my basic shot list. They want traditional shots during the ceremony and traditional portrait shots with family and friends. Outside of that, I'm allowed to be as creative as possible which is great since I prefer more unposed and photojournalistic type of shots.
