Nothing drives people crazy like this health care debate. This is an issue that affects everybody, and it has the potential to cause massive demonstrations that could turn into violent riots. Not many issues are like this... Look at it both ways: 1. SCOTUS declares this bill to be constitutional; Obama and the Democrats win. States like Idaho and Montana will certainly nullify the bill. Others will follow. The Feds will launch a counter-attack and there will be a struggle between the Feds and the States that has not been seen since the War Between the States. (I'm not saying that the Feds will invade the states 1860's style, but there WILL be tremendous hostility and legal battles between the States and the Feds). Far-right activists and radicals will get violent and this outcome could become known as the straw that broke the camels back for many conservatives, libertarians, and even centrists. There will be mass demonstrations in populous states like California, Florida, and Texas. If Obama is still in office, then successionist movements will be discussed at the state level - succession will be a topic of discussion on the mainstream media. 2. SCOTUS throws the bill out and Obama's crown jewel achievement is tossed to the dust bins of history. Radical Leftists and Marxists will rise up and start chaos; even more so if a Republican is in office during the invalidation. There will be mass demonstrations in populous states like California, Florida, and Texas. Leftist cities like Detroit, Chicago, New York, and Los Angeles will see large-scale demonstrations and potential riots. Moderate democrats and progressives could join the fray depending on economic conditions if they consider it to be the straw that broke the camels back. Remember, since Congress passed the bill and Obama signed it, many Leftists already assume that they will have health care in 2012 and that the bill is constitutional. The invalidation would decimate their hopes and could cause them to lash out. If the economy isn't getting better by the time this decision is made (it won't) then it could (it will) really heat up here in the US within the next year or two.
