Who are they kidding. Save the money they use for making flyers, signs and radio air time, and put it to much better use. Our entire county suddenly became illiterate. Not happy with the firework shows at local parks and rivers, they have to invent home made bombs that rattle the windows and send horses into the next zip code. I'm thinking of having a group Benadryl dosing, myself included. Oh look at the purty rocket ma....don't worry, it won't burn our barn, it's aimed at the neighbors.

We live in a town of 2800 total population, nothing here is newsworthy. Just me, ranting about the constant explosions, in between watering down the field.

Who's silly enough to be blowing things up already?? I'm still sitting at home sealing up my hommade mortars and simulators I've been building all week, I thought I had till monday? Btw, have you SEEN how much the cost of powder has gone up this year?

Ugh. I hate this time of year. And New Year's too. It's after 11 p.m. here on June 30th, not July 4th, and some jerk just set one off. It doesn't matter that it's illegal. The police do nothing about it here, despite complaints that have been growing over the years. The odd politician raises the possibility of banning them, but I don't imagine that would make too much of a change since the ones people are setting off are already illegal and they set them off outside the allowed dates and times. Those that are for fireworks/firecrackers/illegal aerials/bomb-like stuff all whine about how it's a "cultural" thing. Give me a break. Ancient Hawaiians had aerial fireworks? I don't think so. Firecrackers in the driveway is one thing, but these fireworks that sound like bombs are something else. They are so loud, their vibrations set off car alarms, not to mention setting off all the dogs in the neighbourhood.This is one topic that really gets my ire up. It's supposed to be a long weekend. I usually relax and enjoy having an extra day off. But not at this time of year. :\

Emily.... We aren't talking about fireworks, we are talking about illegal explosives. You and I have different ideas of "fun". Drunken men with volatile chemicals, blowing up bottles and setting trees and fields on fire, isn't high on my fun meter, sorry if it is something you find entertaining. edited to add: One probably has to believe in God, in order to be gifted with a sense of anything from that particular entity.

I guess I was absent too when the imaginary creature handed out a sense of fun, or maybe I am not sad enough that blowing stuff up is required to have fun, I manage to have fun the old fashioned way, hanging out with friends, no explosives, no burning stuff... So you have this thing for the fire brigade, what else do you do for fun? Chase ambulances, natural disasters?

Blowing stuff up is fun, just ask the Mythbusters. So are bonfires. And burning stuff IS the old-fashioned way, people have been doing that for fun since we were cave men.

Guess most of us have passed that stage, personally I enjoy living in a nice house, I don't grouch anybody their cage, though I doubt it's comfy or has internet access (though due to some posts I think some might). I wouldn't be very amused about somebody starting uncontrolled fires that might burn down my property, or explosives that might endanger people and animals. Though I would recommend leaving the cage and going to a library, the Chinese invented fireworks, a bit more evolved that the cave men... And somehow I doubt that a BBQ or a bonfire is quite the same as a wild and uncontrolled fire, I know, not as much fun as if a forest burns down, fields and crops are destroyed, animals and people die, but hey, I guess I just don't know how to have fun.

I didn't get the feeling the OP was about plain old fireworks, but speaking of illegal explosives being set off every day for a long time before the 4th is even upon us. It would aggravate the hell outa me too.
