A lot of people think that, but they are mistaken. Canada is not America lite, we are a different people with a very different outlook and mindset. We have different values.

No you're not... you, meaning most Canadians, have the same values...love of family, freedom and country and that's why we are so close and friends. Now you personally are not like most of us but that’s OK too.

When the chips are down we stand by each other...Happy Birthday Canada.

WEEKENDS HERE!

And just in time too! Bigotry is one of my button issues and encountering it always puts me in such a state.

A little relaxation and partying is just what the doctor ordered.

Happy Canada Day!

Happy Independence day!

I wish everyone a great weekend.

You said Canadians would react all pouty and freak out if compared to the U.S. so I did just that, the whole post was "bullshit". It was a joke to prove your point. You really need to lighten up, It's Canada Day for Christ's sake, have a beer and laugh it up.

Then you have never driven the 400 from North Toronto to Pickering!

No I haven't.

I dont remember that road having emergency lanes.   The speed was also in kilometers-  which my then car did not list- so I had to guess the right speed.

Thought so but wanted clarification. After all, 4 generations back, one of my ancestors was Riel's second wife.

It came across as serious... a failing of the written word versus the spoken word. If you were truly not serious then you have my apology. Like I said, bigotry is one of my button issues... I despise it, it makes my blood boil.

You're chicken wings still suck, though.

Peace and prosperity to you and yours.

In my city, we have a bar that boasts they have best wings in the province. I can't vouch for that as I've never tried them!

Yes but we have it... meaning Canada and the US...a lot don't...We fought for it and were lucky enough to attain it.

Wow, you always seem to run into people who don't have a sense of humour (according to you)... I do wonder why...

Canadians didn't, they had it handed to them on a silver platter. The only times they had to fight somebody off it was you guys

But I thought we were talking about what the US and Canada have in common.

When it come to Canada standing up for their values you may need to hit the history books.

I used to think so AR,  but less so these days.   In some ways what you say might be true- but there has been a sell out and downward slide towards all things American.

Keep in mind tho that America is a big country- that just about anything can be found here- that we are not all Suburbs of New Jersey.

I always get along with people from Canada.   I do tho think you have more red tape there - that it would be harder to function there- and I would never become a homeowner in any other country.    Heck-  I could even pay my house off if I wanted to- but I don't.   (modest place- small town)

Canadians are a gracious people...  but at times- I do think youns are America light.       (G20 riots- Vancouver riot- police state type of ...)

Man, you have not seen red tape until you have come to California, try building a house here or setting up a business.... omg!!!

Yes, the US has forced things to change for the worse especially since 9/11, using that whole terrorism thing as a club. And American tv does have an influence on those that are easily influenced. Its still not America lite tho...
