The details of how much of each party will actually vote is something of a factor, but the true decision will be made by the independents.

Turnout is far more than "something of a factor". There is likely to be a decline in the "making history" vote, the Hispanic vote who thought he was going to pass comprehensive immigration reform, the anti-war vote and the youth vote. If there is no offsetting decline on the GOP side (and there should be far less, especially given the evidence of the 2010 election turnout) then his 2008 margin of victory is whittled way down. Throw in re-districting and it may be gone on the electoral side, if not the popular vote. A shift in independents just enhances the GOP margin.

Writing off a second term as would be presumptuous. The GOP need a candidate first.

The election may well be close. But hardly a done deal, in either direction.

A lot can happen in a sixteen months. Surprises happen.

RacerJim -> RE: Disappointment with Obama (7/2/2011 12:16:03 PM)

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you aren't a racist, then you should vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you aren't an idiot.

Musicmystery -> RE: Disappointment with Obama (7/2/2011 12:25:44 PM)

Ooooo....more bumper sticker cliches.

Clever.

My vote for Obama had nothing to do with race.

I do find it telling though that those who claim their rabid opposition to Obama is not based on race consistently and constantly claim he was elected only because of his race.

ladyneedshelp -> RE: Disappointment with Obama (7/2/2011 12:41:14 PM)

I don't know about the good old days of carter and the misery index....but then the liberals conveniently forget those days or are not old enough to remember them! But I do know that Obama has continued the bush policies as well as added a few of his own ...... The carter to bush years on steroids.......

But if he can really make the sea levels drop wouldn't that be worth following the plans of his most trusted czars like Holder who thinks de-industerlizing America and mass sterlization of certain (lower class) communities all worth it? He and many of his closest advisors love China ..... Now there's a goverment that cares for its people..... Free medical.....they may have to travle for a few days to find a real hospital......much less electricty.....they may only be able to have one child....but the goverment has their best intrest at heart....and though Obama and many of his key people admire Mao....(who only slaughtered millions to achive his goals) we know that's not the part they admirre.....we do know that don't we??? Hummmmm............ Hope and change u can believe in! All those jobs Obama has created in 3 years.....how could anyone not vote for him......I know.....he only blamed one trillion deficit on bush 3 years ago.....but he misspoke......he really ment 4 trillion is bush's fault....but don't worry.....soon as the workers of the world united we will all be living like the chineese in the country side live......electricty?? Indoor plumbing.....how many generations will it take till people forget what those are?.....forget capitalism.....so what if that made us the richest and strongest in the world......its about dam time we get off our high horse and quit being pigs......I don't understand why so many want so badly to come to this mean cruel country......but Obama......he's going to make it right......

We just have to give him 4 more years to prove himself.......the left is correct he did promise to shut down the coal and gas industry.......its alright if other countries do it....matter of fact he made sure billions was given to Brazil to drill in the gulf after he stopped America from doing so....and promised to be their best coustomer.......so why would anyone be suprised? Why would those on the left deny he is doing these things.....he promised it all on the campain trail! Doesn't he deserve 4 more????? Who could ever vote for some stupid republican like the Texas governor who has helped his state prosper and created over half the jobs this country has seen in the last 3 years..... Better to vote for a man who will help stop a company from building a plant in a detestable non union state.....after all some rich man owns that company why should he have free choice as to where he builds or expands his own company? Obama he knows that rich man owes all his jobs to the union worker! I just don't understand why any right wing nut would prefer prosperity over government! I guess there is just no explaining peoples stupidity!

You mean like Bill Clinton and Geraldine Ferraro?

It is funny that some conservatives out here think that he actually will not be re-elected.

Anyone want to put their money where their mouth is? When Obama wins you make a donation to the Democratic Party...If anything else transpires I contribute to the Republicans.

Any takers?

Come on!

I'll only bet with people who would actually pay up.

Tell you what. If any of you guys decide to do it, I'll hold it, and send the appropriate receipt to the loser after the election.

DecadentDesire -> RE: Disappointment with Obama (7/2/2011 1:59:48 PM)

I was disillusioned by what he promised to accomplish during the election.

What he actually accomplished has met my expectations and possibly even exceeded them a little bit.

The moral of this story: I have low expectations for politicians.

If anyone I dont have blocked is interested, I'll take 7:5 odds.

How does one know whether or not you have them blocked...do you send out notifications when you take such an action.

Aneirin -> RE: Disappointment with Obama (7/2/2011 3:03:11 PM)

Just a quick question;

Of those you elect, do they ever turn out to be what they told you they would be ?

And before anyone says a political leader cannot help what things come in the future, I say, political possible leaders should not say anything about the future if they are elected, if they cannot predict the future.

In which case, why do you vote for a political leader, what criteria persuades you to choose one person over another ?

Actually he might be right this time. If they run someone like Sarah of MB, Obama might win by a larger margin.

ArizonaBossMan -> RE: Disappointment with Obama (7/2/2011 3:26:52 PM)

poor poor lil liberals... all sad by o'dumbo now. Hey, it's YOUR hope and change baby. Quit voting for prom kings and start voting for a freaking president in the future, ok?
