The world has us by the financial balls!!! Especially China, the can bankrupt the USA anytime they want. We know it and they know it. That gives then a lot of influence over our economy and our politics.

Our GDP is three times China's.

China can't bankrupt us--first, they'd destroy themselves, as we're a large trading partner. How have they influenced our economy/politics? Examples?

They hold a lot of our debt, true, but the EU holds more, and the majority is held by U.S. citizens.

Really, they wouldn't be desperately running this game of dumping US dollars all over the globe if they had the kind of leverage CS claims.
But he's also talking about biological warfare and APNs as solutions to military problems of a relatively smaller nature.
I actually didn't know there was a Paintball Party before I read those posts.[:D]

Sanity -> RE: U.S. STILL BOMBING LIBYA (7/3/2011 10:54:12 AM)

Bad week to quit your anger management classes julia? [:D]

1. Ive been very consistent about questioning our role in Libya, the thing is we dont know who will fill the power vacuum if and when Gaddafi is gone. Are we enabling Muslim extremists? That is and has been the reason I have been hesitant to support our actions there.

2. I havent suggested at any time that any president is above questioning, thats rabid spew on your part

3. Leftists are hypocrites for their duplicity regarding our role in the war against Libya, which is probably why you are foaming at the mouth like this - you know I am right.

4.A key role of oppositional political parties is to question things that the party in power goes along with unquestioning, even to point out blatant hypocrisy whenever it rears its ugly head.

Because you are such an ideologue it enrages you that I would dare to question Dear Leader...  on things that you know deep down inside you are glaringly wrong about his policy, his administration, and his leadership.

If it were a republican that was doing this you would be drooling for more blood. You are such a hypocrite, deriding "leftists" for not supporting a pacifist role in Libya while you are not supporting your traditional "Commander and Chief is above questioning" crap... I guess questioning the president about military actions only applies to republican presidents for you[8|]

Just to be clear--pacifist and leftist don't go hand-in-hand necessarily.

Incidentally, neither do war-monger and conservative automatically.

Sanity -> RE: U.S. STILL BOMBING LIBYA (7/3/2011 11:06:09 AM)

True. But, leftists almost universally co-opted the pacifist banner in their rabid opposition to George W. Bush, though it was completely insincere on their part.

Hmm. Six years of rubber-stamping Bush's idiocy made pretty much anything else stand out.

Sanity -> RE: U.S. STILL BOMBING LIBYA (7/3/2011 11:25:33 AM)

Rubber-stamping Obamas idiocy is okay?

Musicmystery -> RE: U.S. STILL BOMBING LIBYA (7/3/2011 11:26:58 AM)

No, but it also didn't happen. Dems fought over Obama's proposals, most notably health care.

Now, of course, he faces a divided Congress.

Sanity -> RE: U.S. STILL BOMBING LIBYA (7/3/2011 11:32:37 AM)

Have a quick glance at the thread topic, MM...

I'm answering your points, Dude. You don't want it discussed, don't raise the point.

See how that works?

Speaking of rubber, how are you doing recruiting your new demographic? You know, the folks who only like a couple months ago you staunchly defended DOMA as late as march, but NOW (<-Hey, how about them next, all ya gotta do is lie and say you changed your mind about abortion and probably throw in that you like women as well)?

Anyway, I can hardly wait to see the WHOPPER the party comes up with to reconcile their new fangled support of gay marriage to the Christian Right.

It doesn't make us broke, however--just reluctant to pay our bills.
U.S. wealth tops $56 trillion. World-wide GDP is only $60 trillion. We could almost buy all the world's goods.
Face it. We're rich. We just don't like to pay for shit.

Actually, America just thinks it is rich! Like the person who owns a free and clear home but ahs a limited income so they get a line of credit on the home and use it to buy their wants. In the end they lose the home and everything else.

So lets look at the $56 trillion in wealth and the worldwide $60 trillion GDP. The $56 trillion is Americas house. We have a line of credit on it. Currently we have $14.5 trillion of Americas line of credit spent (http://www.usdebtclock.org/) and we do not have enough income to pay even the interest payments on that debt so we have to borrow more. That leave $41.5 trillion of our "wealth" remaining.

Our budget deficit was $1.4 trillion in 2010 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2010_United_States_federal_budget). Plus, we have a trade deficit that is about $500 Billion a year (http://www.census.gov/indicator/www/ustrade.html). Plus, we give away another $50 or so in foriegn aid (http://www.census.gov/compendia/statab/2011/tables/11s1296.pdf). Basically, we are lossing our wealth at a rate of about $1.9 trillion dollars a year!!!

Take $41.5 trillion in wealth and divide it by $1.9 trillion in over spending and deficits = national bankrupty in 22 years!!!

Musicmystery -> RE: U.S. STILL BOMBING LIBYA (7/3/2011 3:46:25 PM)

You're omitting that we are also producing $15 trillion in GDP each year.

Uhhhhh...a trade deficit is not a "loss of wealth".
