You're omitting that we are also producing $15 trillion in GDP each year.

So....if we used your "math" (with the misunderstandings above), subtract $1.9 trillion, that puts us $13.1 trillion in the clear each year.

Point is....we're not bankrupt. Nowhere remotely close.

1. Ive been very consistent about questioning our role in Libya, the thing is we dont know who will fill the power vacuum if and when Gaddafi is gone. Are we enabling Muslim extremists? That is and has been the reason I have been hesitant to support our actions there.

Actually it is not just the muslim extremist we have to worry about - it is everyone who follow the muslim faith. The end goal of the muslim faith is to convert or subjugate (you can be non-muslim as long as you serve muslims) anyone who is not a muslim. They have free reign in their faith to kill anyone who is not muslim or does not submit. they also have free reign in their faith to lie about their intent and objectives which is why you hear so much about the "peace" verses in the Quran; however, the "peace" verses no longer count as they were overridden by the "verse of the sword" and the last written book of the Quran!!!

In order to understand why you have to understand the Doctrine of Abrogation and read the last two written chapters in the Quran. Which are actually chaprters 9 (Al-Twaba) and 110 (An-Nasr).
podcasts - http://librivox.org/the-meaning-of-the-glorious-koran-translated-by-mohammed-marmaduke-pickthall/ and http://www.islamicpodcast.com/holy-quran-with-english-translation-mp3

Most Americans do not know that 9-11 was a symbolic attack as it was also the date of a massive defeat of the Muslims (Ottomans) by the Christians (Habsburgs) in Vienna in 1683 which many believe was the turning point in the expansion of the Muslim faith via war into Europe.

Like it or not we are at war for etenity!

I am against being in Libya, and I am not an Obama supporter, nice fucking try

Were you for invading Iraq?

Were you for invading Afghanistan?

The only reason you aren't supporting Libya is because Obama started it

Yes but that is already included in the $59 trillion. Even if it was not the problem is that what we purchased is worth less each and every year due to depreciation. You buy a new car and drive it off the lot - it value drops then each year it becomes worth less and less. However, if you can not afford to make the payments on the loan then the balance on the loan goes up and continues to climb until it gets reposessed and you end up with a defficiency judgement. At that point you end up with no car and a lot of debt.

If you buy a "made in China" tee shirt with a credit card - how long does a tee shirt last? A year or two? After that it is worth nothing but the and debt still remains and continues to grow unless you pay it off. America can not longer afford to pay its debt so eventually we are bankrupt. Like terminal cancer it is not a question about if you will die it is just a question of when. Americans need to take a hard look at what is happening in Greece and what happened in Argentina and several other South American countries.

Eventually we will be forced to enact austerity measures, sell off our public lands and mineral resources, or hyperinflate our currency to pay back the debt. There are no other options! (The world knows it is coming - more and more trade agreements and international contracts was placing clauses in the contracts that tie the payments to another currency because they see hyperinflation and the devalueation of the dollar coming.)

Austerity measures means you will make less because you will be taxed more and your benefits will be cut. Hyperinflation means what you do make will purchase a lot less. Selling off our public land means our "national wealth" will decrease. All in all, it means eventually all Americans will be much poorer and make less. (Oh it will seem like they are making more because their paychecks will go up but their purchasing power will decline substantially - $25 for a loaf of bread)

I "brought up" Obama?

His war against Libya is the topic...

I changed the subject?

You are a moron. I was posting on topic until these lowlife trollish attacks...

The rest of your puddle of drool and slobber isnt any more sane or relevant so its not worth my time to bother.

MM wavers between being reasonable and being a troll.

Right now he is being a troll.

You and skippy are always trolls...

When you're cornered, you change the subject. You always have.

Then the personal attacks, then the troll mantra. Let's take a look....

quote:

ORIGINAL: Musicmystery
Just to be clear--pacifist and leftist don't go hand-in-hand necessarily.

Incidentally, neither do war-monger and conservative automatically.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Sanity
True. But, leftists almost universally co-opted the pacifist banner in their rabid opposition to George W. Bush, though it was completely insincere on their part.

[note...you brought up Bush]
quote:

ORIGINAL: Musicmystery

Hmm. Six years of rubber-stamping Bush's idiocy made pretty much anything else stand out.

quote:

ORIGINAL: Sanity
Rubber-stamping Obamas idiocy is okay?

[Now you brought up Obama]

quote:

ORIGINAL: Musicmystery

No, but it also didn't happen. Dems fought over Obama's proposals, most notably health care.

Now, of course, he faces a divided Congress.

[Oops! Now you're flat-out busted. What to do?]

quote:

Have a quick glance at the thread topic, MM...

[Ah yes.....change the subject....dodge and deflect...]

quote:

ORIGINAL: Musicmystery

I'm answering your points, Dude. You don't want it discussed, don't raise the point.

See how that works?

[Fuck! You're busted AGAIN! Well.....time to go to silly attacks over nothing, see if anyone takes the bait....]

quote:

ORIGINAL: Sanity
No, sorry, youre not. Theyre going zoom right over your head

But then, fuck it all, Skipper nails you. What's left? Time for the troll attack.....

Honestly, you're comical.

Oh, and you might want to look at the thread topic.

Oy.

Sorry to hear about your assets. But the rest of us don't tie up our wealth in depreciating assets.

And you're still ignoring that each year, we produce an additional $15 trillion. It's called an economy.

You're discussing this as if no one has any income. We do.

I think someone's having some 4th of july fun with his oxygen tent...

By the way, we had a Laser show tonight after the fireworks. It's just the coolest thing living at the head of the harbor.. deliver the terms of sanity's surrender, take a five minute walk down to the state pier where my buddy's lobster trawl is idling and then around the harbor of the oldest seaport in america to watch fire works shot off a ledge that a cannon still sits that sank a british frigate about 200 ft where we dropped anchor.

There are WAY worse places to be that the United States.

Actually check your facts. Most of what we do buy and trade for is depreciating assets like oil, electronics, and consumer goods.

As for the 15 billion dollar GDP - we are already spending it and we still can't pay our bills.

Your personal financial situation might be different (mine certainly is) but as a nation we are screwed financially. Even one of Obamas plans was to create a 25% inflation over two terms to help pay off the deficit with cheaper dollars but he has not been able to stablize the economy like he foolishly thought he could.

In terms of labor cost American just can not compete with countries where you can buy a college educated worker for less than $750 a month. America is a fat financial pig and it is slowly getting carved up and eaten. People bitch about FTA and outsourcing of jobs but they are more than happy to go down to Wally World and buy cheap goods made outside of the USA.

As for me being out of my league well I think I'm in some really good financial company because - Warren Buffet, Allen Greenspan, David Walker the former head of the Govenment Accounting Office, Robert Bixby, and most of the big financial gurus seem to agree there is a major problem. (In fact Mr Buffet made a cartoon about the problem here is the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DvuyvuHmJI It might make the concept simple enough for you to understand.)

The issue is also constantly on CNBC.
Peace

Owner, are you and Stern Skipper cousins?

Everyone in Washington seemed to think that we'd be in Libya for three weeks or so. How long has it been now?
And at what dollar cost?
Oh, and since this is a "Nato" operation which "Nato" country was attacked by Libya?
