Hi i have lately noticed something about my Master.  He never raises his voice but he also does not like to repeat himself.  If he has to just his tone of voice brings instant obedience to whatever it is he says.

I would guess many others have the same experience with their Masters/ Mistresses but i would like to hear your story.

For the Masters/ Mistresses do you have a certain tone of voice that you sub/slaves know?
Thanks

Damn straight, I do.  And I learned and developed it during 19 years as a single mom!  DD still jumps when I use That Voice :)

Yes...Monotone, which is why I avoid Karaoke bars at all cost.
Now, as I whisper...softly, for pet to come hither...I seem to not only get a response, but some arousal as well....if you call the hair on the back of her kneck standing up..arousal?
Yes, I'm shocking!  Kevin

Little one,

The natural dominant only raises his/her voice for show in a scene. This could be a public scene or a private scene and he/she will understand that that raised voice is necessary to fulfill that play. As I am sure you are well aware of is your Master's dominance stems from his self-control. It is his even tone that lets you know he has that control, but it is the lower tone, that sudden drop of octaves that snap you to submission. A Dom/me doesn’t yell and scream to make point, they are true predators; just as the big cats purr of excitement drops in tone before the pounce, the Master/Mistress's tone drops. This is your first sign that it is business mode and you, the prey, are about to be pounced by the predator.

For me, when I raise my voce it is all play. It is those low tones, which I trust you already understand the different degree's of those tones, that will clue the sub/slave into serious, disappointed, irritated, upset, etc... The fact remains that the lower tone means business, and if any sub/slave gets involved with the yelling screaming Dom/me, be warned, he/she lacks control.

When I first started talking to new contacts, one of the questions I always asked right off, was whether they had a tendency to raise their voice. To me, this signifies a loss of control and possible anger issues, things that can lead to violence. I'm extremely sensitive to yelling, and hearing anybody yell sets my nerves on edge and brings up a flight response, even if it's not aimed at me. I can't and won't tolerate being around anyone who yells.

I find most dominant males do not appreciate being made to repeat themselves and, over the years, I've learned to listen more closely just to avoid that I'm-not-joking-around-here tone you mentioned. I can't imagine that yelling would ever be as effective a tool as that lowered, quiet, disapproving tone.

Dear littleone35, Ladies and Gentlemen;

Lovely thread.

I do indeed have a range of tones, speech and look that has individuals slaves of mine and or a group of individuals react.

Rarely do I need to use it, as my look is the first indication of pleasure and or displeasure.

When I speak, the lower it is, the more attention I get.  When it is normal conversation, in a particular body frame and focused on the "individual," it will cause attention of a lot of individuals.  My reputation of being decorous, I have only used my look, my posture and my voice once inside a huge crowded assembly of individuals as to confront a drunk Top who was being wreckless with a single tail in an area of tables and individuals sitting there.  Already spilling beer filled cups off some ledge where they collected, onto my guest from Pennsylvania and my leather dress, ruining it--had enough.  Before I knew it, many Masters; some Board of Directors from a BDSM Support and Education group were there, snatched him out so fast that it would make your head swim.  One commented, that they wouldn't want to see me "pissed off," as "annoyed" was scary enough.

Most times my tone is soft and just loud enough for my slaves to hear.

Respectfully submitted,
Lady Hugs

I seldom raise my voice unless the ol' man's playing that hard of hearing crap again! Like when I ask him to take out the trash and he doesn't hear me for days  even then I resort to other means of getting his attention other than yelling and screaming.
I've never found more lethal weapons than my eyes and lowered tones.

I just had an epiphany.
Furthermore, it is one of those things that you know, but (for me) really do not 'think' about it.  Pretty cool to read it and get that 'dayammmm' feeling.
Thanx!

I agree with Cin,a low tone will get my attention in right quick order..whereas a male who is screaming at me engenders inner tremoring, and a flight or fight response.Yelling indicates to me that lack of control is imminent if not already arrived at and as such submission would not be possible but running would be first option in my mind....be well...Tempting

I've noticed that if I raise my voice it is usually so that someone can hear me :P I have a hard time talking loudly. However, Ive noticed that when I get disappointed with someone, I will usually drop my voice and take on a dispondent tone, something that seems to say "Leave me alone. Im done." However, Ive noticed that a low matter of fact tone is what I take on when I need to talk to someone to let them know what it is that has me upset, or if they aren't seeing the big picture and I'm trying to let them know what it is from how I see it. I've been able to help my slave friend up north this way in regards to her submission and her ideas about it verses her Master's will. (She often tries too hard to please him, only to feel like she screwed up. We've had numerous long phone conversations about it and somehow I'm always able to help her and usually right about the situation.)

This is probably how I would act in a D/s relationship.

The tone of HIS voice and look in HIS eyes - no need for HIM to yell...In fact, yelling would negate HIS power.

Lol, LadyMorgyn, i am a slave but i definitely have that mommoy voice, i still use it from time to time.

With Jewel it is a look, then a quiet pounce, much as Loki said, very predatory. With Scooter, he gets the wickedest smile, then an evil low throaty chuckle about two seconds before he starts removing my clothes whispering, hmmm, you don't need these.
