-FR- To me, slut is a derogatory term, no matter what. If I were talking about a woman like this: Slut (noun): A woman who can put pride, ego, and shame away as she pursues sexual pleasure. I would say something like "sexually liberated" or "sexually open" or something. I recently learned that it's bad to call women sluts because it has a long history of patriarchal something or other so I now make an effort to use the more neutral (although technically incorrect) term "whore" when talking about a woman whose sexual choices I disapprove of.

I guess that's the main difference lol. If a guy looks down on sluts he'll probably still sleep with one...if a girl looks down on male sluts there's no way she's getting in that bed.

I'd say they are potential sluts ;) Although for me it's less about the number of partners and more about the manner in which the sex happens. I think on average people have had 7 sexual partners in their life...if someone has had sex with 6 people but every single one of them was a random one night "hookup" then they're a slut...if someone has had sex with 10 people but every single one of them was in a relationship then they're not a slut. Most people I think are a mix between the two...most sex in a relationship but maybe one or two hookups. I think it depends mostly on which type of encounter takes priority for them.
