As the poo spreads inexorably in Cameron's direction, the leaders of the UK's two non-Tory parties Clegg (Lib-Dems) and Millibrand (Labour) are both calling for a comprehensive review of media ownership and accountability.

Will a weakened Cameron be able to resist the public clamour for serious action against Murdoch and his monopoly? How long before Cameron turns on his erstwhile benefactor Murdoch in order to save his own position? And if that happens how will Murdoch possibly prevent even more contagion spreading across the Atlantic?

I'd imagine the next edition of Private Eye will be a collector's item!

Also it is reported that the New Corp board of directors in the US is evaluating Murdochs continuing role as chariman -

His assistant commissioner, John Yates, has also resigned today. He led the 2009 inquiry into the hacking and found there was no case to answer. It would seem his inquiry consisted of asking the previous inquiry`s investigators, if they had found anything.

I suspect Cameron's future will depend in large measure on how much he can spread the collective blame/guilt around. The queue to brown nose Murdoch was a long one, with figures from every political party and it goes back a long way historically. I wouldn't dare put a limit on the number of public figures Murdoch has compromised or corrupted over the years.

It's worth remembering that NOTW wasn't the only paper involved in phone hacking, nor was the Tory-News Corp link an exclusive one. The genie is well and truly out of the bottle and no one really knows what the next sleazy revelation will be, who will be the next public figure to be compromised or even if Murdoch will succeed in containing the crisis to the UK.

But, at this point in time and on the information publicly available now, it's starting to look like, at a minimum, either Murdoch Snr. or Cameron will go (and possibly both). As they say in the newspaper business, watch this space .....

I will be surprised if Cameron goes. Labour are pressing for it but they were in deep with the Murdochs as well. I also suspect shareholders in the US may push out Murdoch Snr.

The interesting thing is Brooks said recently the worst is yet to come !

Brooks is obviously being set up as a fall guy for this. It's a bit like the sod at the Beeb who was promoted to a higher position in case they needed to fire somebody in order to shut the red tops up about Woss and his big haired friend bragging about shagging one of Satan's Sluts to her grandfather...

Somewhere down the line, this shit is going to hit the PM and that because it appears government needs publicity agents, who are often from the media industry to make them look good to the populace. What ever happened to government just doing what they were supposed to do, i.e. govern, why do they need publicists do they think they are celebrities or something ?

But for government tp align with media to sell the word, that was a stupid mistake, or is it, politics is about as trustworthy as media or even in the same vein, fact distorted to mean something else without blatantly lying.
