If I was so alone in this ideology vets would not sell that service, now would they? Let the market decide. And if you feel this strongly- boycott any vets that DO this service- and tell them why.

Hunky, more and more vets are refusing to declaw cats, offering the alternatives instead. And yes I think it should be illegal.

NO NO NO NO!

The human equivalent, is cutting off every finger at the 1st joint.

It`s unhealthy for them and leaves them completely defenseless.

If one can`t keep a cat without doing this extreme thing,they shouldn`t have one.

That is not fair to me and my cat. She likes her body the way it now is. She purrs. The ban is stupid. They ban it in Florida- so one I know came to PA to have it done.

Im sorry but Pebbles is anything but "defenseless" I got her from the shelter about 5 years ago, when her previous owners abandoned her by throwing her out of a moving car window...

And let me tell you, if ANYONE trys to hurt me they leave in more damage then i could inflict, between her teeth and her back paws shes one vicious cat when provoked.

I am on the fence about declawing, while what they do is very very very very scary i can see why the practice is done. I think its more humane if it needs to be done if they do it as a kitten then as a full grown adult.....

However my opinion on the way people treat cats is of more importance then the declawing.... Pebbles was almost put down because she had behavior problems because of her previous owners.

Moms old cat she had all 4 declawed. It was strictly an indoor cat. I doubt I would ever declaw the back. It is not necessary.

It figures that hunky and DS would agree on this. One might call such lower mentality the thought-forms of livestock.

My late mother & I had friends that owned a 20 lb Siamese (all black looked like a mini panther) he was declawed, but I saw him handle a 70 lb German Shepard once. "Fuji" wrapped his front paws around the dog's muzzle and "jack rabbited" it with his hind claws. That dog NEVER strayed on to their property again. Fuji could also "shinny" up to the roof on the down spout, and trees too.

Before you make that particular decision, don't you think you should see first if there are humane alternatives to declawing a cat?

Don't declaw the cats, it's cruel. I don't really like cats but would never even think about doing that to one.
