A thread or two I read here lately have me thinking. So many times, someone posts something, and the reactions that come are "You are searching for wank material", "Why would you post such stuff for us to see?", "We are not in your dynamic", "Use the search feature", etc so on and so forth.

So, is it the subject that gets folks riled, or is it the fact they do not know, or do not like, the person doing the posting?

Some people on these boards seem to have a stick up their ass about what other people post. So what if someone is asking a question that's already been asked? New people have fresh opinions. So what if it's wank fodder? It's a fucking kink site! I've been here a long time...not under this profile, but under others. I've read the same topics over and over through the years just like many others have. So what? It's always the same people that get their feathers ruffled.

This is a pet peeve of mine.

i'll admit i have jumped on the "wankfodder" bandwagon once or twice. You're right, it's really dumb. i will try to be more openminded in the future.

I approach such threads with the attitude that I may not like the poster... I may feel its wank material... I may consider the post inflammatory... but I also realize that someone else may have the same question and be honestly searching for information.

This isn't directed at you, tazzygirl - your post just got me thinking in general....

These are discussion boards, yes? Sometimes, people are actually searching for discussion, not just information. Anybody can do a Google search, which can net them the same information as the search function here. But I'm sure people come here not only for information but also for dialogue. I hate to see a person get trounced for wanting discussion on .....um.....a discussion board.

I think it's a little bit of both. I always have to chuckle at the hypocrisy of this. Sometimes a new person or someone who's not in one of the numerous in-crowds some folks are so happy to be in will post a good question. Then as the established posters begin to pick it apart, the blood spills. The tone that is set by the first few established posters is the tone the whole thread usually takes. Depending upon their mood, the question is determined to be either "good" or "bad." That's pretty sad because good questions get tossed by the wayside because somebody "influential" got up with their panties in a bunch.

Another thing that cracks me up is the criticism about spelling and grammar. I will point it out if the mistakes are humorous or change the meaning of a sentence but, otherwise, I know we all make mistakes and whether or not it's spelled correctly doesn't change the thought being communicated. There is one established poster here who is very snarky about people's grammar, spelling, and the use of paragraphs especially. However, when her sub posts, it's just one big run-on sentence with no capitalization, incorrect spelling, grammar and punctuation and I've never seen her or anyone else mention it. Gotta laugh at the conscious choice to blow someone else out of the water for a simple error yet never correct your own sub's egregious posting (or the sub of someone you really like). You see that alot. People who have been around a long time get a pass where it's not necessarily deserved while others do not where it is deserved.

I admit it gets kind of old to read the same questions day after day, week after week, but it's never bothered me enough to tell someone not to do it. I simply see what it's about and skip it if I don't want to read it. But then I don't get that involved with who posts here and what they post about. These boards are entertaining, amusing and sometimes enlightening but simply not that important to me personally. So what if people ask the same questions over and over? To me, it's their perogative. Some people get too worked up over it, obviously.

Just my observation..........luci

True, but you have to admit some are just into the inflammatory responses they can get.

I have noticed that I tend to respond to threads that I disagree strongly with something on. I also tend to answer the OP before reading the thread.

I am just really trying to become more positive in everything in my life, and I am trying to figure out why I am so quick to voice my disagreement. Part of it may be that, normally, the things I really do agree with or love, so many others have already said the same thing, I feel like why bother.

One of the threads that got me to thinking on this is gone now, so I am wondering if I dreamed the entire thing-lolol.

I have definitely jumped on the snark bandwagon here. But most of the time, if I am not interested in the discussion or I don't have anything to contribute, I just don't post. See how that works?? Those who post in response to a question who say, "I've never experienced that so I have nothing to contribute" make me smh!! But much as I would like to believe in my own personal perfection, sometimes I end up saying shit I wish I hadn't. There is one poster here who starts dozens of threads & they have some of the oddest outlooks on the subjects I've ever heard. I've made the mistake of getting involved a few times & then I just realize that my head's getting all bloody from beating it against that brick wall & I stop. I now have this poster on hide & I will not respond to any of their threads because when people respond to them, they just stay on page 1.

I didn't used to, but I now have a few regular posters on hide, mostly for the negativity of their posts. Some seem to think that if they say a bunch of negative snarky shit & put "lol" all over the post, nobody will understand that they're a snarky bitch.

I was new here once upon a time. I lurked for months before I ever posted & then one day I got up the nerve & started a thread of my own. OMG!!! I could not believe the negativity that the thread generated. I tried for awhile to defend myself & to explain myself, but then I finally just gave up & left it to die. I think I only had one person respond positively with good advice.

I have never been able to make the search feature do what I want it to do, this after 5+ years of trying. So I might be inclined to ask a question that's been asked before. I kinda miss LA because she would post links to every thread about any subject.

I have to agree that this is a discussion board & what someone coming here might want is a discussion. Of course that entails some who will see it one way & others who will see it other ways. And I think too many get their panties in a bunch when they don't hear what they wanted to hear.

lol, I am fairly new to this game so no idea how "influential" you are but I haven't noticed you putting the boot in for no reason.
I have had the boot put into me,but the boot wasn't put into just my post,it became a series of personal attacks which is wrong
