My bad: I didn't realise that was what you were getting at.
(Hubbard was deported from Australia though, which I think buggered up his retirement plans a bit...)

Kids beat up other kids for any number of reasons and naming your kid a name so it wont get roughed up is sad state of our world.

It is up to the parents to name their kids what they feel right about. People who beat other kids up because of their name suck ass and always will no matter how old they are or aren't.

PS If parents feel the name is too out there they could give a "normal" middle name and the kid could make up its own mind about the name. I bet what happens...

I agree with you, and I'm sure the kids who get beat up agree with you. However, they still get beat up, don't they?

Yeah man, and dancing around by trying to name a kid a name they wont get beat up about is really not ever going to be the solution.

Goodness, didn't anyone watch Seinfeld??

Well, I didn't even flinch at the Seven.

I didn't flinch at the "Seven" middle name either as I remember that funny Seinfeld episode...ha ha

As far as the name Harper..when I first read that here I thought of the movie "American Graffiti" and character named Terry trying to get someone of age to buy him some  "Old Harper" outside a liquor store......Whiskey I guess....Or I thought of an author with that name but have to look up who that would be..Now I know..The author of "To Kill a Mockingbird" Harper Lee...

FR

For those of you that dont watch Newsround on childrens BBC, the name Harper was said to have been picked by their other children and comes from a character in a childrens television series.

And no im not explaining why i watch kids news when i have no young children [:D]

OK, so you propose naming your kid something moronic to encourage the bullies as a solution then?

Tantriqu -> RE: Beckhams daughter (7/16/2011 5:12:08 PM)

For Canadians, it's like naming a beautiful little girl 'Mugabe'.

Arpig -> RE: Beckhams daughter (7/17/2011 4:27:21 AM)

Very true. [:D]

I like Harper. Seven is Becks jersey number or something.

It is not as bad as Apple.

And kids will be kids no matter what; whether it is a name, or looks, or ethnicity, etc.

I know a woman who is named Cynthia who hates her name so she uses her mother's maiden name as her name. It is very strange, but it works for her.

zephyroftheNorth -> RE: Beckhams daughter (7/17/2011 9:00:27 AM)

You know, I like Apple, though I would be hard pressed to explain why. I also like Harper and again can't say why, I just do. There are far worse things people have named their kids IMO.

But as a parent making sure that the other kids have a good reason to pick on your child doesn't seem to great. All those super outlandish names some parents come up to show how "creative" and "open minded" they are, just not cool because the kid has to live with the name. Again, remember Johnny Cash and "A Boy Named Sue"...
