Spooooooooooky! [X(]

LadyConstanze -> RE: this places achillies heel (7/14/2011 8:27:20 AM)

Is this a recycled whinefest or a new one?

What's his problem now apart from the usual "Nobody likes me and the mods were unfair to me, why don't you see that I'm the greatest... I am so great I stay in a place where I'm not wanted, negative attention is better than no attention..."

I hope the OP got paid well for being the inspiration (or shall I say muse) for this genius advertising clip!

When you see the same people year after year posting evey waking hour then you realize this is a way of life for some and it is not something we need to actively get envolved with as it will simply lead to nothing good for you. For God's sake, some here have 15000 to 40000 posts, think about it, and when you scan their posting history it really is almost every waking hour. So, there is a segment of the population to whom the forums are vitally important for whatever reason, probably social or physical isolation.

I fit that description... so now I am to be judged because I can type quickly and I have a quick mind?

Please, feel free to examine my posting history if that makes you feel somehow superior[;)]

The funny thing is, there are entire spans of time that I never logged on here at all, for like a year at a time, and other times when my posting style was frenetic....

My question is why would you feel the need to bash people? There are people here who are disabled, who are isolated, and who have very little social outlet... why put them down to make yourself superior? That is kinda pathetic if you ask me.

I would take your own advice, you are one pretty snarky person

Readership is up, while participation is down, I wonder why so many people bother to read here if we suck so much?

I enjoy posting here when I have extra time on my hands, and sooner or later I will take a break and do something else (probably sooner than later as I have a thesis to write and a house to paint), but I will be back. I enjoy the interaction, I also get something out of it when someone emails me on the other side that they appreciated my viewpoint, and even though they do not participate, they wanted to thank me for saying something that helped them. This has happened many times over the course of my posting history on this site (and I am sure others have experienced it also), so you can go on being a negative person, me, I find value where I find it and the glass is half full for me.

Reflecting on the problem that DavidLee44UK and Arturas have raised reminds me that it is occasionally the case that threads turn into exchanges that cause the Mods to yank them. But I wonder if perhaps we should consider the needs of these people who provoke such exchanges.

They all but beg for the treatment they receive, and where else will they find it? Is it a kindness to refuse them? Maybe we should have a "Reality Therapy" section, in which to deposit the threads that are yanked from the regular forums so that poor souls like these can get what they so desperately need and deserve.

Goodness knows we're a kindly bunch, and willing to give it to them. [:D]

I for one am grateful for the bit of "Wahhhhwahhhhhhhh" here, I haven't thought about this genius clip for quite a while, heaven knows what made me think about it now, and yes people, USE CONDOMS...

Yes. It's also why many long time members only have a post or two here or left long ago.

You are right about the regulars. Dude, you really take the cake. Talk about a pot calling a kettle black.

Others have explained to you, which should not need to be, that people utilize this site for varying reasons. YOU have no clue how often people post or why or how or when, so please stop making the assumption that everyone here is a social misfit.

Some of us have or had home based jobs and were able to log in more often. For example, I just changed jobs and will be starting a job in an office, so I will not be able to log in as frequently. However, no matter how many posts I have, I still have a life.

I think you should base your perceptions on quality of posts, not quantity. As far as new people coming or going, again, assumptions about why this happens are truly a moot point.

In your case, the hypocrisy of the matter is that you may only have 720 posts listed, but in reality, you have thousands of posts that were posted under someone else's name as a couple.

Additionally, in terms of quantity, you have been so verbose in your posts that if you cared to do the math, you would probably have about 100,000 posts based on words.

I know you were attempting to support the whiny OP but you shot yourself in the foot doing so.

One thing that he and the OP do not seem to realize is that when you point your finger at someone else, you have three pointed back at yourself

Julia...  too bad those three pointing back dont shoot clue-by-fours...

I'm sorry, I should have been more clear..

I meant the stats that show join dates etc... all across the forums.. and the other side for good measure..

given his claim that so many join and leave so quickly, and that CM is going to run out of subscribers given his rates of join/leave...

Reminds me of a couple of posters over on P&R
wheres ma cattle prod!!!!

CynthiaWVirginia -> RE: this places achillies heel (7/14/2011 9:58:10 AM)

DavidLee44UK, after reading your posts here I had this...ah...strange "vision" pop into my mind.  Cue small circle of light on a man's face...watching him bellow "Dammit, there are people in this room shitting on the floor!"  Circle of light expands till entire room is visible...main character is caught squatting...

Dude, if you don't like the sh*t here, stop squatting, mkay?

You do have other conversation starters, right?  Something else to talk about other than your feelings about how you were treated when you made your first post.  You have made over 251 posts now, isn't there anything else you would wish to talk about?

There is no way to eliminate any achillies heel, as you call it, as long as people make the free choice to be rude instead of polite.  If you don't like the posts of some people, at the bottom left corner of each message boards' post is the option to put someone on Hide.  Then you would get to see this whenever they post:
This user is on your "hidden" list and the post has been hidden.
Click here to unhide this user and view the post
.
(Which can be very satisfying to see.) [:D]

If you won't leave CollarMe, decisions of who you choose to read, what you choose to respond to, as well as your own response...are completely in your own power.

Also, hate to say this, but there is no time machine here.  We cannot go back and change someone's first experience in the message boards.  The milk is spilled already, nothing left to do but say oops and mop up.  Someone can always make a new profile and start over again with a blank slate...it is better than beating the proverbial dead horse.

The solution over the munch or dungeon issue is also within your own grasp...have your friends within that group contact the one who doubted your membership.  Surely the organizer or some of the regulars would know you.

I had a friend half a dozen years ago who was also a member of that group, if it was the one I am thinking of in Atlanta that had (I think) four numbers in it's name...and even I could probably look him up after all this time and he would remember me.  Someone would have to remember you.

And last but not least...would you please stop insulting my favorite site.  Sure, it's not perfect; it is made up of people...imperfect beings with egos and faults.  You should know something about those, being human yourself. [;)]
